Dr Z Stang Ray seems to have lost some bottom end. I have been having issues with the Tone Pot. It would get static, you could turn the knob back an forth and make it go away but it would return. I have recently cleaned the pot with with canned air and it hasnt failed as of yet. The amp just doesnt sound like it has before (it didnt sound right, thats why I cleaned the pot) which was fantastic. It sounds like it has lost its clarity, low end and punch. I run the Tone on 4 and the cut at 2. It has a single Gold 12 running at 16 ohms. Ant help would be great.
Thanks, Tim

I'd try Deoxit 5 spray in the control. Other than that, How long has it been since you replaced the output tubes? They can get pretty bright an thin when they're getting old and worn out.

Thanks, I don't know old the tubes are but it is very loud. I ordered some Deoxit and will try that. I compared it to my Fender Custom Deluxe Reverb and the DR sounded better so it has to be something in the amp.

Welcome to the forum, there's a lot of great people here and tons of good experience.
99 times out of 100 it turns out to be a tube. An amp can be really loud but have bad tubes; if it was my amp I'd get a quad of new output tubes and see what happens. It could be a preamp tube too, but they typically outlast output tubes so I'd start there.

You should have them on hand anyway.

You should have them on hand anyway. You are correct sir. Its a lot easier to carry extra tubes that it is an extra amp.

Have you tried straight in from the guitar? I know you probably did but it's worth mentioning. Could be something on the pedal board. Also, try the amp in a different room. Finally, make sure your cell phone is not near the amp. Ask me how I know that one - 🤔
