I have a couple guitars in the closet that I bought used years ago that I always intended to inject some new life into. One is a Peavey Firenza with P90s. I want to go with noiseless P90s. I've used Kinmans (not P90s) in the past but was thinking on trying something different. Based on a cursory search, the Fralins seem pretty cool.
Anybody here have any experience with noiseless P90s and, more specifically, the Fralins? How about other noiseless options?

Just Kinmans and I never liked them. To be fair, they were stock in a 20+ year old guitar (Crook) and the current models might be quite different. Good luck on your search.

I think I’m going with the Fralins. The shop I buy most pedals from here in Canada is a Fralin dealer but the P90 is not one the models they normally stock. I have a message out to them to see if they’ll bring in a set next order. I don’t really want to order direct from the US as they likely ship USPS and my experience with USPS (shipping to Canada) since the Pandemic began has been hit & miss.

I had the Dimarzio Virtual P90 in my Les Paul years back. I seem to remember they sounded but I could just never warm to the look of double pole pickups in the guitar. I really like my Kinman strat pickups (although I've never really played a single coil strat). I think the version 2 of the Kinmans would have required routing in my guitar which was definitely not happening in a '68 Les Paul. I see their version 3's are shorter.
With all that said, when I muse about putting noiseless P90s back into my Les Paul, Fralins top the list. I think you're right on there. Although, if I want to keep my guitar stock, the Ilitch back plate is also at the top of the list.
If you put them in, I'll be curious as to how you like them.

I've done extensive interweb searching regarding noiseless pickups, including P90. Everything I've read gets, at best mixed reviews except. Ilitch Hum Cancelling. I'd try these first and go from there. Below is a link to their P90 pickup. www.ilitchelectronics.com/product/ip90-pickup/

I clicked on their P90. I'm not so sure it's noise canceling. Right in their top description, the last line reads: "The IP90 pickup itself are NOT hum canceling!" I was recently perusing some old Z-Talk threads about their backplates and folks here are fans.

The only experiance that I've had with noiseless P90s was with the Gibson P100 back in the 90s. To me, it lacked what makes the P90 great. I'm sure there are noiseless pickups out there that sound good, I just don't know which. I know Fralins seem to always be on top of of the list for people who want noiseless pickups.

I’m not sure it will work, though, as I guess I’d need the noiseless system backplate and I doubt I’d get one to fit the Peavey? I’ll read up a little more on that system later.

Listening to the audio clip, it sounds like they hum a fair amount. Sorry for the bad info.

Not bad info as I would have figured it out! I’m actually now interested in this system for a tele at some point in he future if that’s possible.

I saw around four threads or so. And, I think one of the earliest was someone getting it installed into a Tele. Looking forward to the report back once you have your solution and installed. Here's to Good Tone & Quiet!

I have Suhr Landau pickups in the guitar and there is no noise at all in positions of the 5 way switch. The problem is buying the pickups you like or love but then paying extra for the noiseless system. on a Strat style guitar the middle pickup cannot be reverse wound - not sure how P90's would work but I'm sure the website explains it all.

I've had a set of Fralin noiseless. They were indeed noiseless and sounded fine but did not really sound like a P90 all that much.
Architecturally, noiseless P90s, just like noiseless single coils, are not the same pickup so you always end up missing what makes the regular pickups great. The coil size and placement is different and the way the magnet interfaces with the coil is different.
That said, they are some great sound sounding noiseless pickup so out and enjoy them and like them for what they are.
I have a design for some noiseless pickups but I am having too much fun doing other stuff right now but I will eventually get there.
Everything matters in building pickups.

I tried some Gibson p100 noiseless P90's once. Didn't really think they sounded like P90's though. No experience with any others. I'd probably go into it not expecting them to sound just like a P90 and you won't be disappointed.
Are they soapbars? If you're not dead set on noiseless P90's, mini humbuckers usually fit in place. They are cool too.
I really like P90's. I don't mind the hum. It covers up my sloppy playing lol.

I don't really care if they are vintage-correct from a sound perspective...just in the ballpark. I just find the noise annoying when playing at low volume at home.

I think they generally fit in a P90 space. Just another idea. When I was a kid, the guitar player in my brother's band had a Les Paul Deluxe with the mini-humbuckers. I loved that sound and the look. I've been tempted to drop them into my Les Paul. Fralin makes them: Fralin Mini HumbuckersSeymour Duncan makes them (and this is my favorite mini-humbucker look which Fralin has also): Seymour Duncan Mini-Humbucker

I think I still want a reasonable hand-drawn facsimile of the P90 sound, I just won’t be fussed if it doesn’t sound like the best of P90s. My dealer got back to me today and they can order me a set. So, I think I’ll try the Fralins.

I was reading some threads across the internet comparing the mini-humbuckers to the P90s. The P90s definitely have their own sound. Have fun!

Special ordered a set of noiseless Fralins today. Should take 5-6 weeks but I’ll update once I start to refresh the little Peavey (it’s a great little guitar).

I just learned about Dr. Zdrok...she actually wrote a book on pickup techniques, and it's not the magnet and wire type! Kudos on your impeccable taste, Keith.

I’ve been eying the Fralin Alnico Noiseless P90 set in humbucker size for a Les Paul as a change from normal humbuckers.

I’d consider looking at Lollar’s RWRP set.
They sound very authentic in a Nash Tele. Except of course original Teles never came with P90s, but you know what I mean.
