How can I tell if it's the 8 watt or the original? Thanks!

There was the original Mini-Z (combo) amp with just the one "Volume" knob; and then there was the revised one (available as a head or combo) with "Volume" and "Attenuator" knobs. I wasn't aware of any sub-versions within either one of those, though...?

Yes, with the attenuator version there are two different transformers. I had both for a while at the same time. I liked them both for different reasons. The larger (newer) transformer sounds bigger with more bass, but I found it dark at low volumes. The older one (but still on the attenuator amp) sounded better low but not as good loud. In this thread (page 2) I posted pics of them both: ztalk.proboards.com/thread/49410/mini-maz-8?page=2I kept the one with the upgraded transformer and had it modded with a push-pull bright switch so it is the best of all worlds for me. I will NEVER sell it!
