Does anyone here run the master the dimed on the Wreck Jr?
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the nuances of a MV amp.
Does turning the master all the way up essentially turn it into a non-MV amp?
Thank friends!

Depends on circuit. I don’t know about this amp, but I believe several of the Dr.‘s amps were that way. ME

I'm not sure how similar it is to having no MV- it depends on the circuit, as Michael stated, but I've noticed that the higher I set the master on my Wreck Jr, the better my guitar cleans up from the guitar's volume control and picking pressure. Definitely experiment with it if you have a place where you can play loud.

If it’s a post phase inverter master volume which I believe the Wreck Jr is, then yes. Totally cranked, it is essentially out of the circuit.

They were LOUD!!!!

Bump for more data.
I have this amp and love it. I'm still learning how to use it at gigs, but loving it anyway and so are the people that watch us play.
The other guitar player plays a twin and my Wreck Jr. keeps up, but not cleanly, which is fine. But to those of you that are gigging (indoors and outdoors), is this what you do? Dime the master and get it as distorted as you need for the gig?
For our outdoor gigs, I have basically turned the master up to between 1:00 and 3:00 (as we get louder and as the beer/wine flows) and have the gain set so the Strymon Flint doesn't explode.
I guess my question is whether the dimed master will overdrive the power section or not? I don't have many opportunities to open it up and test, so for those that can, what are your observations?
Probably a complicated answer...

I play with the master volume dimed on my wreck jr all the time. Granted, I am always using the attenuator in the ox box to keep volume down. Then I just use the gain to go from clean to distorted. The master volume on the amp is very good, but everything is just a little bit better with it all the way up. It really brings out that natural tube compression and just warms everything up.

Probably a complicated answer... I have yet to dime the z wreck jr, but when I use it live I’ve pretty much set the volume where I need it for solos, and roll of my guitar for cleans/rhythm parts. If I need more I’ll hit a boost. Sorry can’t answer the whole question.

Where I live (neighborhood), it's unrealistic to test thoroughly without damaging neighborhood relations. We gig on Saturday and I'll try it then and report back for any interested parties...

I don't have a Wreck any longer, but I gig my Cure and I do dime the MV. The Cure also has the excellent Level control, which I set as needed (usually around 10-11 o'clock).
I'm interested in your report!
