I got this pedal in order to have two sounds in one pedal. It has the Morning Glory (Marshall Bluesbreaker) on one side and the Moonshine (tube Screamer) on the other.
Let me start with he Moonshine side. It is much smoother than my stock TS-9 and sounds better over all. The Morning Glory side is much different. Let me start with this. I've had a King of Tone about 10 years ago. It was a great pedal. This Moonshine is not the King of tone. It has it's own thing going for it. It is not nearly as compressed as the Moonshine side and to me, it reminds be of British crunch. You can really get great 70s rock sounds out of it, which is what I was hoping for. I feel like I can nail old Bad Company sounds with this side of the pedal through my Z-lux! It has another gain stage that can switched with a toggle or an external foot switch. I didn't get the external foot switch, but I probably will for the convenience of it.
I've been digging Mike Campbell of late and I like his simple pedal setup. I like using the lower gain setting of the Morning Glory for the Tom Petty tunes.
Overall, it's a really good tool in the toolkit.

Great pedal! I've had one on my board for a while now....Love both sides but perticulerly like stacking the Morning Glory into an OCD.

It's been pretty handy. I love the bright switch on the side too. Cut the highs on a bright amp and brighten a darker amp. That's a pretty good feature. I have my the opposite direction. I have the TS going into the BB. The thought around that was that the BB would provide the "breaking up amp" that TS's sound best into. It's worked pretty well. I don't use a lot of gain anyway unless it's called for.

I have another update on this pedal. I don't normally use effects on my Z Wreck Jr, but I decided to try the Double Barrel out on it. I have the Wreck's volume set where if I pick lightly, it's clean. If I hit it harder, great overdrive comes. Those great dynamics the Wreck has! I went ahead and tuned the high cut off on the pedal as the Wreck is a darker amp than the Lux. I had great results on the Morning Glory side! It really is pretty transparent. I just have it set to add just a little bit more drive to the amp. The Moonshine side works well too. It brighten's the Wreck just a little (maybe upper mid). A nice creamy sound at low gain settings. I really feel like a made a good decision with this Double Barrel!

Great review on this...I need another drive pedal like I need another half dozen storage totes for my drive pedals! Now I've got to go and listen to some videos. I've got a Snouse dual Black Box, which is the Marshall Bluesbreaker x2 in one enclosure, and it's very cool. I'm gonna try it with a TS out front and see how it sounds. I like your thoughts about the BB imitating an amp "on the edge" and being pushed over with a TS.
