I start by saying this. I think the V Type is a serious contender for anyone who likes Celestion Speakers. It really is like if you through all the great Celestions like the Greenback, G12H30, V30 and even a Gold in a blender and this is what came out.
Disclaimer: The Gold is not my favorite Celestion.
My comparison overview: I must say that I was pretty surprised by the results. If you like the Gold I think that you will like the V Type as well. I think that the V Type would be like a well broken in Gold. The highs are a touch smoother, the bottom is a bit more punchy, but the midrange is familiar. I think the gold has a touch more sizzle, and my cut slightly more, but you won't hate the V Type. The V Type is just a Chameleon of a speaker. Its like a slipping into your favorite pair of shoes, super comfy, you would wear them anywhere, and they work well on different terrain.
I think you get a slightly softer feel from the Light Magnet of the V Type and it feels kind of somewhere in the middle. I was surprised that the Gold had as much edge as it did. I think its perfect for a speaker that isn't broken in and you know its only going to get sweeter with time. The V Type just sounds fantastic out of the box. I think its safe to say that although its not an identical match, I can definetly hear why others think the V Type sounds like a Gold, because it does have some familiar traits.
Side Note: I am very interested in trying the Neo V Type comparison to the Gold at some point down the line. The only place I can find that Neo is Sweetwater, but I have some Guitar Center Bucks I need to spend. Sadly GC is out of 8ohm V Types at this time so I may have to order from Sweetwater.

I'll have to agree with practically everything you've said re: the Gold vs. V-Type. Great speaker--kind of a mix of all the great Celestion traits, and its midrange aligns right where the Gold's does.

Thanks for your review! I just know eventually I'll be ordering one. Curiosity always gets the better of me.
