Tried a Gold in my Therapy and I like it better than any of my Vintage 30's. Knowing how inconsistent the V30 speakers are, I'm wondering if the Golds are more consistent with the sound throughout the years. Anyone out there have multiple made in the past 4 years or so that can say?
I'm also interested in thoughts on the V-Type. Someone on the forum commented how close it sounded to the Gold and several videos on Youtube indicate they sound very similar. It would be nice to save a couple hundred dollars vs a Gold.

You can look just a few threads down, I did a review on the V Type. I may be able to do a direct comparison to the V Type and the Gold this weekend. I’m not much of a fan of the Golds .

Not multiples, but I have owned 2 C-Golds and they sounded the same as far as I remember. I bought them at different times, one new and one used, so they were from different batches. I still have one and I probably always will have at least one because for certain applications they work great for me. They need to be pushed a little to work properly I think. 20 watts or so at least. I don't care for them much when using dirt pedals at lower volumes. Maybe that is why some players don't bond with them.

I've had the Gold at a couple different points in time, and to my ears each of them reacted & sounded exactly the same. Same with the V-Type. I'd say they're "no less consistent" than any other speakers I've tried.
That might'be been one of my posts from a couple years ago, stating that the V-Type is practically 95% of the tone of the Gold (or something like that). I still stand by that--the V-Type is an amazingly good speaker. Major differences: the Gold is noticeably louder and to me it's got a slightly firmer & more beefy low-end (sometimes the Gold can be too much volume & low-end, frankly).
I still have the V-type, in a 2xEL84 Vox-style 1x12 combo amp. The amp has "that" Vox-y AC15-type sound, and the V-type is positioned perfectly to showcase it: the jangly highs, that signature crunch in the lows--it's all there. The 15W Blue (obviously) could do this too, but my amp might blow it. The Gold would do it, but my amp would be MUCH louder.

The golds have landed, I’ll do a comparison tomorrow. These two have next to no hours on them and are still in the box. After the comparison test I’ll be listing them in the FSSection

When I had a Therapy a gold and V-30 variants were my favorites. And I went through a TON of speakers.

I recently bought a V type, and it's a great sounding speaker. I really like how it has good detail and holds it together when it's driven hard.

I have 2 Z 1x12 cabinets. Sitting at home I think I like the Gold better and it might sound better for recording, but when gigging I think my 2013 V-30 sounds better. Since I have literally piles of speakers and no job right now, I'll hold off on a V-Type purchase but may revisit it at a later date.
Still looking forward to Bubs comparison!

For sure--if you're satisfied with either the Gold or the V30, I would not say that the V-Type would necessarily be "better" for you anyway. Those are "premium" speakers for sure, and they have a specific sound that they do very well. But if you're in a situation where you're considering swapping speakers because something about the Gold, V30, or even the Greenback isn't working out for you, THAT'S where I'd recommend trying a V-Type.
