Hey everyone. If anyone knows of a tele for sale, let me know. Main thing is that it has to be LIGHT (something around 7lbs), and have a substantial neck. No “modern C” or anything like that. I hurt my shoulder and wound up having surgery, and my Les Paul is too much weight at the moment. I’ve always noticed the weight difference between my LP and my strats, but after the surgery, a 9.5lb guitar is downright uncomfortable. I need a guitar with a little more grind than a strat, so be on the lookout for me. I’d be happy to throw in a small finders fee if someone finds me a Tele that fits the bill. Thanks!

A semi hollow G&L ASAT with the big neck option was the first thing that jumped to my mind but any thin line T-style with a big neck would do the trick. Many solid body ones are in your weight range also. There are so many T-styles out there (new and used) that I'm sure you can run into what you are looking for fairly quickly. Asking about weight and 1st \ 12th fret neck depth is pretty common these days. Good luck.

You need a Brad Paisley Tele from Fender. Extremely light and hefty neck. You can change out the pick guard if paisley is not your thing.

Look for a Paulowina bodied Tele - like the Brad Paisley signature. Paulowina is a super light wood. I put together my own partscaster using a Paulowina body that my daughter painted. Fully assembled the thing weighs 5 lbs. 3 oz. and is a pleasure to hang on your neck! Also as Ridgeback said above any thinline should be a big help too! edit: Keith beat me to it!

whatever you get let me know and I can hook you up with a nice set of pickups. Todd, what do those run? Try to decide if I’m keeping my MIM Tele. It has updated pick ups of some sort, but I know they aren’t a set. Sounds great in 1 & 3, but combined they sound like junk. Wondering if they are out of phase or something.

I have one of these (see avatar). Nice and light under 7# (aided by the "smuggler's" cavity). Medium thick neck, and LOTS of sonic guts! She's a snotty little tele, and I LOVE her!!!

When it came to getting a Tele, I decided to assemble one instead. I ended up with a great sounding 6-1/2 pound early Telecaster style guitar. The swamp ash body and big soft V shaped neck are from USACG and the pickups are Fralins. I've been playing this guitar for over 17 years. I didn't mean for it to become my number one, and it wasn't- until the right amp came along (the awesome tweed Deluxe clone in the pic) and showed me what it could sound like. I love it with any amp now.

I private messaged you about Greenville pickups. Todd

Lightweight with a big neck is Nocaster. However, as mentioned above, the Paisley has a nice big neck that feels great and it will be a lot less coin than a Nocaster. I currently have 3 Teles. A Nocaster from 2000, a home build with a Paisley neck and a USA Professional body and another home build with a Warmoth boatneck and Allparts body. I do love those big old necks from the 5os!

As mentioned by a couple others, the Brad Paisley model is really light. That actually turned me off because I figured it wasn't going to have much resonance and then I got the chance to play one at a local shop. It was really lively and had a ton of sustain. I was also really surprised at how light it actually was. I may pick one up at some point, not nuts about the sparkles, but over all a really nice Tele.

He just swapped out the paisley pickguard.
