Ok, this maybe should not have come as such a pleasant surprise, but I've been having a lot of fun with this pairing over the weekend... I guess being in the Vox camp, a Rickenbacker should match up well with the Zwreck Jr and boy does it! With the gain and master set around 9 o'clock it jangles away like crazy, where usually the amp set that low sounds a little uninspiring with my Tele or Les Paul. I guess the compressor i'm using (a ThorpyFX Fat General) helps a little here too, but with the bass and treble controls around 1 o'clock to reduce some mid range, i'm getting some of the best REM type jangle i've ever heard out of this guitar. The guitar in question is a Ric 330 that I bought from new 1995, the passing 26 years yellowing the truss rod cover quite substantially, and it's come in and out of rotation as my musical styles have evolved over the years from The Beatles to The Jam to Fugazi. I'm planning on trying this guitar out for the covers band i'm in, so i'll get a chance to wind the amp open soon when we are allowed to get back into rehearsals here in the UK next month, and i'm sure there's some wonderful sounds bursting to be released from this amp! Anyone else rocking a Ric with their Junior? I read so much about Tele's and Les Pauls and how great they sound, so it ill be interesting to hear if anyone else is enjoying a Rickenbacker through their amp and what sounds they are going for.

feifongwong It certainly does sound a bit special, and has made me appreciate the greenback speaker even more, as I’m surprised how well it produces those Vox-like Rickenbacker tones that I thought I’d need a Celestion blue to get. The depth and clarity is superb when played clean with the Ric, and the junior produces sparkling highs void of any harshness, with the bottom end filling out nicely to fill the room without having to be loud, so with the way it effortlessly handles the rockier sounds, I can certainly see why the doc settled so quickly on this speaker for the junior.

Not surprised this sounds great! I don’t have a Wreck Jr., but I do enjoy a mapleglo Rickenbacker 330 with my SRZ65. That’s one great looking classic guitar and amp you have there!

I have a Sr. Wreck, and that is my go to amp for Ric and other single coils. >75% of my playing is with a Ric. I do split amp use between the Wreck and the Route66 (and occasionally some other amps- sometimes with the Ric-O-Sound stereo.)
I’m a bit sad for the people who think a Ric is a one trick pony.

My 360/12 and the Wreck Sr. sound simply unbelievable. As you said, low gain and eq make it jangle non stop. Enjoy your tonal trip!

Andy 67 After enjoying the jangle with my Ric through the Wreck, and playing every Rickenbacker-type song/riff I could remember, I went down the rabbit hole of looking for a 12 string guitar. Wow the 12-string Rics are expensive these days, so for the fun of playing some Beatles or Byrds songs for an afternoon, I won't be going there! sharkboy Cool that you get so much use out of your Ric, as most people see them as purely a speciality niche guitar, but it can be your daily driver as long as you don't expect it to sustain like a Les Paul or stay in tune like a Tele! It was like having another new amp when I was hearing these clean and full Rickenbacker jangle type sounds, as i'd only concentrated on those edge of breakup tele tones that it does so well, so it can be a fairly versatile amp and cover a few bases if you are willing to play with the controls a little. I think that because I initially bought my Wreck Jr to replace a Vox AC15TBX amp I had sold a few years back, this amp really began to shine and impress me when I stopped approaching it as just a replacement of that amp and thinking of it solely as a 'Vox amp emulating machine', and now i'm really enjoying this amp for what it is and loving the unique sounds this amp is capable of that other amps (including the long gone AC15) can't quite touch.

Nothing but love for Rickenbackers and ZWrecks!
I have several Rics and they all love the ZWreck. Quick story: I’ve kept several guitars through most of my adult life. About 20 years ago, I was playing a gig- kind of showing off my guitars- probably brought about five or more other guitars. My Ric 360/6 was fairly new, but I had started the gig with that (Turtles tunes!) Then after every carefully planned guitar change I had that feeling that I didn’t cut through and the sound was relatively flaccid. Every song, found me having these dizzying brain interruptions that would shout at me that the 360 would sound better than this. I played the second set with only the 360 and it was very pleasant.
I switched to mostly Rics after that gig and they are unbelievably fun. I think the Eastman and Danelectro 12s get near the territory of Ric 12s for much less money, but there is nothing quite like a well-set-up Ric 12. The 1993 model (Rose Morris version with a wide fretboard and f-holes) is my current favorite 12-string.
