Thought some of you musicians might get a kick out of this and relate. Like you know how somehow it's just not getting together with musicians and making music that is the real takeaway from it, but it's more the camaraderie and friendships you build along the way that become the lasting memories.
I asked this drummer friend to help me produce some content for a video and for fun, I thought I'd try to interview him at the end which is what this video is about. My observation here is I have 4 really close drummer friends and they have something in common... #1, they are really intelligent, #2, they are really successful, #3, they are huge fans of the guitar, like more than my guitar player friends, and #4, they all have a fantastic sense of humor. That might also describe some amp maker you all know.
Anyway, this guy has a fun story. He's one of the guys who headed to Southern California in the early 80's to become a rock star. He's one of the 3 I know who had the balls to try it. Hope you get a kick out of it. Frank Marino did so that says something I think, and kind of the impetus to share it here.
Nice interview Adam. You can tell there is a fine friendship between you two. Now the gig you talk about at the Dock; is that the Dock at Montrose Beach. We have played there 2-3 times per summer for many years, until we left Chicago in 2018. Always a good time down there. Although one time a riot broke out in the park. Police shut everything down, copters overhead etc. But it was a fun job, and Luke always treated us well.
Z-Plus Maz-Jr 2x10 (sacrificed for Z-Plus) Therapy Antidote (great amp traded for Therapy to save my hearing; sorely missed) Rte. 66 (gone, but not forgotten) Carmen Ghia
No, the dock is in New Buffalo, MI. And yeah, I think I just got a kick out of the camaradarie part of it. We spent a lot of time at rehearsals, sweated through some pretty high profile gigs. We had about 5 hours worth of Rush material learned, and we used to open for ourselves as either a Police tribute or 70's rock thing (Uncle Daddy, what a name). We did that because we used so many inputs (27) and it was too hard to sound check it all and we didn't want it to get screwed up with another band going up. it was a hard gig.
That was really a fun video, Adam. Very sweet and kind...and funny! Great chops on both of you, and obviously the years have been kind to your friendship.
You're kinda like me; my band-mates are my best friends, and we end each night telling each "love you man" (even to our female vocalist)! We've had many practice sessions where we spent probably 75% of the night just chatting about personal (or family) celebrations, heartbreaks, and just life in general.
We're better friends than musicians and are going on 23 years together (except for the DRUMMER LOL he's the new guy (only 10 years)....
kdridnour: Update! I got a Shugaung Rectifier in my Plus now and my Plus sounds great!

GuitarZ: The Mrs jumped into action to find me a cancellation & called multiple spots. One said they had one now if the person didn't show up. She said GO! Went & got the shot. Called the Mrs. She says Where are you At? Went to the wrong one. Guess I don't listen.
