I’m looking at possibly buying a used 1x10 studio combo cab. Problem is, I’m not a huge 10” fan; is it possible to replace the baffle? From the pics I’ve seen, it looks like it’s not glued in like the traditional cabs. Just want to verify.
Thanks in advance, Lee

J Design Reverb ShopJ Designs has a product that lets you keep your baffle and adds a piece to accommodate a different sized speaker. I never looked super close, but I recall it was just going from a 12" to a 10", but I think there was a 10" to 12" option. I don't currently have one of the Doc's 110 and don't remember how the baffle is attached. I'm also not sure how the fit would be with a 12" speaker with or without the adapter I've described. Jeff has put out word that he's closing down J Designs and his website is gone. He has had some products on his Reverb store including the baffles, but it's currently displaying that he's on vacation. He definitely was active in the last couple weeks because I just got a 112 cab that I ordered from him just a couple weeks ago. Maybe he'll have them back up next week to look at.

All of the Z-cabs I have ever seen had the baffle mounted with screws.

All of the Z-cabs I have ever seen had the baffle mounted with screws. Yep, me too. I have a couple of 1x10s but current back problems preclude me getting into them to look. But I have removed the baffles from 1x10 and 1x12 Z cabs to send them in for grillcloth changes and they were indeed screwed in to the cab frames. Pretty easy removal. I can’t imagine the 1x10 being any different.

I just cut a new baffle for a 15" Altec Lansing 418b speaker, and it sounds great. It's easy to change baffles. Now I can run a 12", or a 15" or 2x10" speakers in my Z cab.

I recently purchased a 1x10 studio combo cab that the seller sold to me with an extra 12” baffle should I desire to swap it out. Apparently he did. I have not done that as it now houses my Ghia and a 10” gold. I was just enjoying it earlier this evening and marveling at the rich sound. I hope that answers your question.

I cut the baffle last week and just finished putting grille cloth and piping on it today. Altec Lansing 418b speaker, original cone. Really sounds good.

I bought a 1x12 baffle, matching grill cloth for my existing 2x10 cab that I use an an extension with the ZPlus. The good folks at Doc’s shop hooked me up. It was tres simple to swap - screws only.
