Went to move my Therapy today and had to ask, how can a 35 watt amp weigh this much? Maybe someone at the mothership stashed some gold coins in it. Nope, the amount of iron in there is just incredible. The OT’s plates look to be more than 2” thick. Just amazing the amount of overbuild in these amps. No wonder they sound so amazing...

I have a few 30-35 watt amps. Think I'll weigh them all. I don't remember my Therapy weighing that much. Then again, maybe it is relatively heavier since it doesn't have reverb and is only one channel. In any event, it is well worth lugging around for the great sounds it produces. Still debating whether to use it or my Cure tonight...

Why agonize over a decision...use both.

I think the Therapy has a big output tranny ... typical of Doc "overdesigning" in a very good way. Gives it great oomph and definition. Remember, that's the amp that Walter Becker said he could take and do a gig anywhere, anytime. 'Bout as good as it gets right there.

Why agonize over a decision...use both. I like your thinking, but there wasn't much stage room. Went with the Therapy.

Doc's amps are "robust," to say the least. Anybody who's ever heard/commented on them based only by hearing audio clips on the internet should really play one in person--and also pick one up with their own hands! They're built to put out the tone and take a beating while doing it. I'm struggling to think of any high-end amps that are built any more durably (both physically, and in the robustness of their circuits).
