I thought I'd reamp the EZG for fun and gain it up. Wasn't quite expecting that super clean amp to do that, so thought I'd share. Settings as shown, there's a master volume in the back which was pretty low (well, 95db low... gotta love the Apple Watch and always having a DB meter on hand). Mic'd with the 421 on a creamback. Also was fooling with pedals on one of the tracks, like there's a vibrato pedal on pretty light except on the string chink thing, and then I'd switch to a chorus pedal on the raised 9 chords, sometimes the CE-1 and sometimes the analog man one. Just did that to experiment and see what happens (pretty subtle).

What I meant was it a DIY mod? Pre/post phase inverter?

Email Don drzrepairs@gmail.com I have no idea what he did! I might be the first guy to have an amp with 2 master volumes. All I know is when I turn it up or down, it's the same tone at a different volume. A lot like the CAZ level control now that I think about it.

I've got an empty 2x10 cab on order from Weber speakers due any day now for my EZG-50. I've got a pair of Doc's Z-10 speakers, a couple of Celestion Gold 10's and two 10" Red Fang speakers to try it with. Really looking forward to that, there's a few other 10's I have around that I may mix and match with that cab. The EZG sounds so huge that I think a 2x10 will sound great with it. I'm thinking about semi-open back, the Weber cab has the option to take out 1/3 of the back panel.

Funny you should mention that, I've got a new baffle that I just finished building to convert a Z convertible 1x12 into a 1x15, and it's loaded with an Altec Lansing 418b that sounds absolutely off the hook. Really cool. So far I've tried it with the Carmen Ghia and the EZG50. Killer tone, clean or dirty.
This is your fault, Mike (Thanks!) and I've bought two of these Altecs recently. Both are original cones from the '70s and are in great shape. So now my Z cab can go 1x15, 1x12, or 2x10. It's really versatile. Here's a couple of rough shots of the finished conversion:
