I bought a beautiful used red Z-Lux head that was recently sent back for the trem, reverb, master volume and black/silver switch upgrades. The amp sounds amazing. Can someone explain what each of the upgrades improved and what does the black/silver switch do (from a technical point of view). I couldn't find an explanation anywhere.
Thank you!

I'm not super technical, but below is my perception as a Z-Lux owner. Other then reverb, I think these differences are subtle: 1. Reliance on readily available tubes that are easily replaced, as opposed to harder-to-find NOS, particularly V3 2. More and deeper reverb available 3. More linear taper of MV (this is subtle) 4. My switch doesn't have any black/silver label, but I perceive one side to be cleaner, less gain, less mids and stiffer feeling (more like a Fender DRRI), the other (which I use exclusively) to have more gain, looser, bluesier (while still very much a low-gain blackface-inspired amp).

MV is a true PPIMV Zero noise from reverb and trem (even with pedal). The silver/black switch which references the differences to a Fender DR. Kind a more of a feel/attack/presence thing. Seems to get to breakup quicker.
Sorry not technical. Contact Don at the shop, he can give you a technical breakdown.

The Silver / Black switch takes the choke out of the power supply filter network. Makes it have a little saggier feel without, stiffer with.

I second what everyone else has said. The reverb has improved immensely, the master volume is great, the reverb is dead silent. It used to be when u engaged the reverb switch on the foot switch there would be significant noise. That has gone away completely. Amo sounds great. Well worth the upgrades IMO for the reverb and mv alone

Where is the info on the z-lux update? I emailed Don at the Z shop and he filled me in on what the update includes and pricing. He was very helpful/informative throughout the entire process of mine being updated.
