Hi All,
Just wanted to get some feedback on this one..
I've got a Amprx Brownbox that I use on a deluxe reverb to bring the amp down to 116 volts to get it to its sweet spot.
Is it safe to use on modern amps like my plus, wreck and Maz18?
Will it make a difference sonically?
Thanks!

From what I've been told, modern amps are designed to sound the best with what is coming out of the wall today. Older amps were designed for what was coming out at the time, which was lower than these days, so cutting back the voltage helps them sonically and keeps their innards happy and within specs. My guess is it won't hurt the amp to cut it back, at least for a bit to try it out, since what comes out of the wall can vary so much, depending on where your power line is on the line it is connected to. Can't guarantee that, but tube amps are really robust when it comes to all kinds of mismatches. I know that from the experiences of an old guy.
