but this may be the only amp I need. It seems to cover all my bases: blues, blues-rock, classic rock, even oldies if you turn the guitar volume way down.
Doesn't mean I no longer want any of my other amps, though But I could probably let some of them go without many regrets.

It's interesting in that looking for great tone in a lower power package is what led me towards my Dr Z's. However, now that I've been introduced to the AirBrake and the Ox not to mention improved master volumes, power isn't a concern (as long as I'm not talking about a 200 watt Marshall). So, you all and the good Dr are saying the Desert Island Amp question is answered? Nice!

And I finally used the loop to patch in some 'verb and tremolo with a Strymon Flint.

That loop is great for my pedals. How is it with the Flint?

^^^
Russell, the Flint sounds like it's part of the amp. One thing I need to check is if there is any noise / pop when switching the Flint on and off. I don't think so, but I didn't listen carefully...too busy playing. You know how that goes.

I'm running a Tremolo, a Chorus and 2 Analog Delays. I know what you mean by "it's part of the amp".

"..for now" being the operative word.

I am new here and new to Dr. Z but not new to cool amps. My Caz just recently arrived but I promised the Mrs. I would hold off on using it until Christmas day, despite a gig tonight that I would LOVE to use it on. Regardless, as a new member of the Dr Z family, I will post a full review and maybe make some better clips than just an iPhone on the floor in front of the amp. As for desert island amp, I will see how it compares to these:

Welcome to the forum Scott. You indeed have some excellent amps. It will be very interesting to hear how the CAZ compares. Cheers Thanks D! I did briefly try the amp when it arrived, just to insure it wasn't damaged in shipment . What I immediately noticed was how effective the Aggression control was. All the way off and I was able to get that smooth, Carol-Ann overdrive that I am used to. All the way up, dials in that upper mid grind found in modern Marshalls. I didn't really have time to do much else but just that one control sold me on the amp.

Oh crap! That’s some serious amplification you have there. Really interested in your review. Is that the Triptic?

Oh crap! That’s some serious amplification you have there. Really interested in your review. Is that the Triptic? Thanks! It started life as a Trip r. I gigged it for about a year and was very happy with it but it was lacking a few features that kept it from being perfect. Out of curiosity, I sent Alan an email one day explaining my wish list and he replied that I wanted the Tucana 3r. So off went my Trip and Alan sent back the Tucana. As of right now, if I had to live with a single amp, out of all of my vintage and modern amps, the Tucana would be it. It is that good. Having said that, a Tuc with the Aggression control would be amazing or a multi-channel CAZ with programmable boost may even be better. Ask me again in a week after I wring out the CAZ.
