Should I? It would take drilling four holes. The cab opening is too wide but still...I think it'd be cool. Putting the head cab on top of this combo cab with a Gold is how I made the leap to the question about the Z Wreck 2x12. Hmmm...where's my drill?

I've never seen it done but I'm sure someone has done it before! I like "Interstate" 66s - great sounding amps to my ears! And they look killer! Good luck!

Will the tubes be clear of the speaker? That would be a cool combo! Im not sure if newer production KT66’s would rattle, I know the old ones can a bit.
I had a 2x10 Route 66 combo, put it in a Z28 or KT45 cab (about 20yrs ago). I had to rout out part of the baffle to accommodate the OT bell cover.. but when done it was a cool 66 combo. I dont think it would have worked with a 1x12 at time, the OT wouldnt clear the speaker. If I remember correctly Dr Z sold me a KT45 control panel so the lettering would be correctly oriented.
Id say go for it if it fits... maybe try it first with a different back panel (cut a piece of ply to fit) to make sure it works and sounds good before drilling through the tolex.

Dunno, seems to me the layout on the 66 is made for the tubes to vent in an upright position, not for the one output tube to cause excessive heat onto the transformer. I would not do it.

Even though I didn't start the conversation with "it hurts when I do this"...the doc did say "don't do that!" Thank you DRZTime to find a 1x12 convertible cab!

I would be concerned with the EF86 tube being so close to the speaker. Could go microphonic quick. Cool idea tho!
