This is the amp the people like me who got their start in 80's rock wish they had! It has its own sound. I've heard Marshalls, Mesa Boogies, Carvins, and other amps, but this one is not like them. I had a Seymour Duncan 84-40 amp. I couldn't afford a Boogie or a Marshall back then. That amp completely was sub-standard compared to this one. (It really sucked now that I think about it).
Now, here in 2020, I can get 70's, 80's, 90's, and 20's gain. I've been working on just turning one knob up or down for my less gain sounds and more gain sounds. I have where I can just turn back the Gain knob to noon or below to get more 70's tones. Move it up to 3:00, you have all the gain you need, yet it still have great string to string definition. Need to get clean, just roll the guitar volume back. Also, just need all around cleans for a song? Just roll both the Intensity and Gain back and the Level up.
For example, if I just roll back the Gain below noon, I can get closer to the Billy Squier "Everybody Wants You" sound to early AC/DC sounds. If I need some Candlebox or Alice In Chains tones, roll that gain knob back up. BTW, I can set the volume on the neck pickup on my Les Paul down low and the tone rolled back a bit and just flip the selector switch to do that clean riff on "Far Behind". I can do the same on "Hysteria".
Also, one of the things that I noticed is that it still has a low end thump even though it has a "Marshall" tone stack (at least that's what I remember Doc saying). Yet, it's smooooooth.
Anyway, it's been a lot of fun playing through this amp. I hope to have some rehearse this weekend with it.

I'm guessing you're talking about the CAZ-45?

Nice. I’m with you. I got my feet wet starting to play guitar in that era. Even though I’ve gone down the path of country and other music, if I had to keep one guitar and amp it would be one of my Floyd Rose-equipped guitars and a higher gain amp.
This type of music is much fun to play. Kudos to Doc for teaming up with Alan. Hopefully the amp is a hit for them both.
I’d like to have one some day. Too bad this beauty wasn’t around before I bought my Bogner. I’ll likely eventually make room for both, though.

Cool report, Russell...I've got to add that not only is the amp super versatile, it loves any guitar I've plugged into it. It's REALLY killer with a good Strat, and not near as noisy as I assumed it would be. P90's? Whoa. I played humbucker guitars exclusively for a couple of weeks before I even plugged in a single coil just because I wrongly assumed that it would be too noisy. Not so, it's just a great great fun amp.

My Gold Top with P90s is killer through it. But, he P90s are really noisy at high gain levels. I’m thinking of getting some Fralin hum canceling P90s.

This is the amp the people like me who got their start in 80's rock wish they had! Ditto that, or anything 1970 forward. For me, my "revelations" have been in old Santana stuff, like just say black magic woman from lead to that clean guitar sound just by rolling the volume on the guitar. That was greatly helped by a borrowed 61 SG, but I think there's something in the sound of the transformer which allows it to go there. The transformer has a lot of super high end content in it. Next maybe some old Judas Priest which is kind of a 180 from the Santana thing, but it slays it. Next old Ted Nugent from Tooth, Fang and Claw. It nails that, but you can make it even more ferocious. Next, old Travers. Now I'm on to the King's X thing and it just kills that stuff too. I guess my point is you would kind of think you'd need a different amp for each of those, but this amp goes all over the place. Lastly, I spent a few hours playing old zep stuff and couldn't be happier, and another day fooling with Trower stuff and both cases were the same thing. So yeah, the amp we wish we had all along. Extreme, Dokken, that stuff is in there for sure.

I actually almost ordered a new guitar on Saturday (may still do it today) without a Floyd but still great for the 80's! I've always wanted an EBMM Luke guitar....may just get 'er done.

The Luke III is one of the most comfortable guitars I have ever tried. I've wanted one for years but just never pulled the trigger. EBMM guitars are very well constructed.

I'll sell you mine if you want. L3, HSS, body blue. Super low hours on it. It's just not for me. I have kind of big hands and it has a really small neck and I just don't bond with it. You can see/hear it on the caz demo (Satriani part and comfy numb solo 1) as well as the lay it down vid solo through the maz. PM me if interested or have any questions. Open to trade with some kind of Z amp if that makes sense.

I always wanted a super strat ever since i sold my red kramer focus back in ... 1992? Found this locally - has the stuff, but isn't bright orange or pink... Look forward to hearing the CAZ in person someday soon. Cool amp.
