I was swapping some tubes around in one of my Ghia's after a shoot out between the two that didn't end well, and when I had the amp turned on its side I noticed the panel that the tubes are attached to. I instantly thought of the Z28/Rt66/KT45. So why no 6v6 version of the Ghia, wouldn't it be just another great flavor?

Good idea one I really never thought to try. I always liked the English style drive of the EL 84 based Ghia. And like they say if ain't broke don't fix it. The Ghia is the longest built model in my line over 33 years with NO major change or update, and is still a popular selling model.
I guess it would be interesting to try 6V6's in it, when I have a moment and a donor Ghia I'll try it. Would compete with the very popular Tweed Deluxe but in a head form.

I kind of figured you had tried it and just didn't like it, the tweed Deluxe came to mind when the question came to me.

That would mean everyone would need 2 Ghias! One El84 and one 6V6

When you are done tinkering put it in a blackout head cab with a racing stripe faceplate (with v6 written on the faceplate in silver Sharpie) and I’ll buy it 😉

I know history shows that many didn't like that esthetic, but I dug it. In all seriousness Doc, I'd send you a donor if there was any chance of me getting a 6v6 Ghia. I love the Ghia and the Z28, so having a 6v6 Ghia would be killer.

When it comes to being really picky, I was never much of a fan of EL84s when pushed hard with humbuckers. There is a certain identifiable krang for those tubes, although my ghia had less of it than my maz jr. For overdrive with humbuckers, I kind of prefer big bottles. But I sure did love my Ghia, and I could see a pair of 6V6 fitting in nicely.
Would a different OT be required?

You'd have to change output transformers but it sure could be done. The 6V6 can easily take the Ghia's plate voltage, it would be a very interesting and fun experiment!

Would it be as easy as going over to the Z-28 OT shelf and getting one of those?
I will say, part of the Ghia's appeal is the nice compression it has when pushed. It's very musical. It could be quite different with a new OT and big bottles.

I don't see why not, the issue is the output impedance of the 6V6 in Push-Pull is about twice what the EL-84 is. The Z-28's a dual output tube Push-Pull amp, so yeah...it's transformer would be ideal. You'd want to adjust the phase inverter circuit (which is quite unique in the Ghia) but without schematics I couldn't say for sure how much work that would be. I bet Doc is really busy launching the CAZ-45 but it sure would be cool.

A 1x12 combo with a Emi Z Speaker. Or a Celestion blue! I was just thinking something more American, that was the only reason I chose the Z Speaker. Of course any speaker will do for personal preference. About know Doc is probably wondering why he responded to my question. LOL I just played a very similar amp today and I hope Doc decided to make this happen some time.

LOL!!!! Even though I have been super excited about the new Z28, I would buy a 6v6 Ghia before the Z28, because a super simple 6v6 would be so fantastic.

So what will this amp be named? What’s the American equivalent to the Karmann Ghia?? Corvair Tempest Colt Cougar I'm not sure help me out guys. Z How about Buick’s sleeper v6 muscle car from the late 80s (the Grand National). The tricked out model was the GNX and you get to retain the “G” from Ghia. So, GNX. Oh, and if I recall, they only came in black 😎♠️
