From the AnalogMan website: Status as of todays date of October 22, 2020: King Of Tone is now shipping to people who got on the waiting list on or anytime before: June 25, 2017.
I got on the list July 1, 2017. Do you think I'll get to order one this year?

You never know. They ship pretty quickly after you pay, so you might even receive one by the end of the year. I received mine 8 days after placing the order.

You should. I’ve never seen a pedal this popular.

You’re a couple weeks ahead of me, which should translate to a couple of months in KOT years lol. I believe I’m July 17th, 2017. What configuration/color are you ordering?

I almost added that to my post.....asking everyone which options I should get. I already have a KOT, and I ordered it with the high gain on both sides. I don't recall if they had the other options back then....4 jacks, top mounted toggle, etc. I'm leaning toward ordering the exact same thing I have now. I'm not sure if the color is an option (?)

I went with high gain on both sides because I really like my Prince of Tone. I didn't go with a color change because I didn't see it as a cost effective option.

My plan is to do high gain on both sides, I’ll opt out of the toggle switch since I think once I find the tone I like of the three I’ll probably set it and forget it. I’ll also probably stick with purple. If you choose two jacks he leaves enough room to add the other two at a later date if you choose to do so.

I signed up on May 16, 2018, so it looks like I'm 11 months behind you, Lou. Hope you get yours soon. The good news is that I've got plenty of time to decide on my options.

You should. I’ve never seen a pedal this popular. This phenomenon continues to amaze and confound me at the same time. there’s a gazillion OD/distortion pedals out there. Never actually hearing one in person, I ask, is this pedal REALLY that good? Christ, after a certain age, you don’t even think about 3 yrs ahead!

I’ve had one and I think they are very good overdrive pedals. I sold mine because I moved away from effects at that time. For me, I just can’t believe that they’ve been so popular for so long. I mean a 3 year waiting list that has been that way for around 15 years??

Never actually hearing one in person, I ask, is this pedal REALLY that good? Christ, after a certain age, you don’t even think about 3 yrs ahead! It's a good OD pedal- my favorite, but the Prince of Tone is just as good (as well as others, depending on your taste). In fact, my Prince of Tone edges out my King of Tone just a little. There's something about that particular pedal.
They sound pretty natural- kinda like the amp cranked up, rather than the added mids and fattness that a Tube Screamer adds. In fact, when I want to add fatness and girth (often when playing a Strat, in my case), I reach for my Fulldrive rather than the KoT or PoT.
Are they worth waiting years for or paying a huge amount extra to get one now? No. Are they worth putting your name on the list and going about your business for a few years while forgetting you put you put your name on the list? I think so.

I think it’s easiest if you are still using the same email that you used to get on the list in the first place but I think there is still a way to get it if you’ve changed email addys, IIRC.

I've had two now, and never considered (until one of Mike's fanboys on FB castigated me for admitting I sold mine) that apparently you can send your back for a different set of mods if you don't like the way it works. He'll charge for that, though (which is fair).
So I had a "regular" one, and didn't bond with it, so I flipped it (to a Z bro, for about what I paid for it plus shipping).
Then I decided that previous me was nuts, got back on the list and waited. The second time, I got the high gain mod, which honestly doesn't make much of a difference (to me). And again, in fairness, Mike says it doesn't, so no surprise there. Still didn't bond with it, so I flipped the second one. Again, I wasn't aware you could get yours modded after the fact, but I don't know if that would have made a difference, really.
Now I'm back on the list (third time's the charm), older and maybe a little wiser. I think I finally understand how to use the thing, so I'm hopeful.
I understand from the website that now you get three bites at this particular apple. Mike takes you off the list if you've had three, I guess he figures you had your chance, or that you're just trying to flip it for more cash. That's his right, I guess. I know he's sensitive about keeping the price on these reasonable, and is a little resentful of people making a cottage industry out of reselling his pedals. I get it.
Anyway, I think I've got another year or so till I come up again, but I'm in no rush!

I'm on my third one now. I bought the first one used when you could get them at a reasonable price. Sold that one when I got a new one. Sold that one and finally got another new one. Quite frankly, I didn't bond with it either, until I decided to look at it as a single OD and use both sides engaged. Now I run mine in a looper with both sides on, and it finally sounds like I was hoping it would.

BTW, if the KoT or PoT is not working out for you, try adjusting the trimpot inside the pedal.
When I received my KoT it didn't sound as great as my PoT. It lacked presence and low notes were muddy. It turns out that I had turned up the trimpot inside my PoT just a little (the equivalent of setting a control knob from all the way down to 9:00) and forgot that I did it. I did the same to my KoT and now they sound very similar. It brought the pedal to life.

Honestly the KOT was good, but I didn't hang on to it. What is really special is his fuzz stuff. There is no waiting on those and he'll make whatever you want. The resale isn't AS good, but they still sell at 90-95% or original cost. Hard to lose on either, Mike is the boss.

Yeah, almost everything that Mike makes if you decide to order from him and it's something you don't bond with, you most likely won't lose money on it. If you do, it's very little. That being said, I've loved everything by Analogman that I have played or heard played. I absolutely LOVE my Astrotone.

Well....guess what showed up in my email today? Yep....I can order a KOT, three years and five months to the day after getting on the list. I'm going with the high gain on both sides, just like the one I currently have.

Are you going with a different color this time? I thought about it, but it's a $20-$30 added cost, so I used the $$ to buy a t-shirt.
