ALL RISE
Dr. Z please remake the ORIGINAL Prescription RX with the 3 way bright toggle switch and the "expand" switch. Maybe nowadays include the BRAKE LITE on the offering. That is the amp design that has made me continue buying ONLY Dr. Z amps. I know my arsenal. We need the original.
Power Output: 45 Watts
Output Tubes: 4 – EL84
Preamp Tubes: 3 – 12AX7
Rectifier: 1 – GZ34
Controls: Volume, Treble, Mid, Bass, 3 way bright switch, expand switch, and footswitch Boost.
On the most recent poll I voted Original Prescription.
Thank You

They have a program called the “Legacy Program” and with it they say ....... Please note: many Legacy Models can be purchased through direct sales by reaching accounts@drzamps.com. Please inquire for availability and costs........
So perhaps they can just build you one. Send them an email and hopefully you get the answer you want.

Just to whet your appetite, attached are pics of my Prescription RXs (V1) The family RX Prototype #1 - notice the valence was once green but faded to basically raw wood. The Z is actually the original stained color that was under the Z emblem. I received it without the emblem and elected to keep it that way. An early production RX - green tolex. I have a matching Z-Best cab The next 2 are really unusual - not labelled Prescription but rather Mazs. The first is labelled Maz Studio Lead. It's a long box case. Notice though, it has the Prescription tone stack of BMT and V. (Thanks for finding this one Josh!) The last one is labelled a Maz Combo - Mark II. Again, it has a Prescription tone stack. Doc confirmed that the last two were definitely early Prescription prototypes. Their serial numbers are 7 apart so there may be others out there.

On the most recent poll I voted Original Prescription. Thank You Sonicboom, yes I share your love for the 1st edition RX . I was very proud of the sound of that amp. It was a very original spin on a 4 EL 84 amp , which was all the rage at the time of its release. I thought so much of it I entered it in the 20 Amp Shootout that Guitar Player had. Unfortunately , maybe do to my lack of Promotion of the amp, it didn't sell that well and I ended up replacing in my line up , with I believe the RT 66, a very successful design even to this day. The taste for 4 EL 84 amps was starting to wean at that time late 90's , and a KT 66 amp design was a hot ticket. To get inside my head a little, a very scary place some times, I love designing and birthing new amp designs. Just like an artist loves to write a new hit record. I'm driven to do it , even though it seems I abandon many of my cool designs, I must make room for the new ones in my head. I don't believe bringing back the RX is the right move now. EL 84 amps are not the most popular platform at this time, still a great sound as far as I'm concerned , nothing beats there massive CLANG !!!! But other tubes have taken over as the flavor of the month. Speaking of new tubes I love the Tung Sol 7591, a truly amazing sounding tube and I will work further with it . Guys the 7591 was one of the last NEW deigned output tubes , the end of a golden era, the peak of perfection IMHO. DR.Z

Sonicboom I have one that is just sitting and unlikely to get used like it was meant to anymore, at least by me. It’s a 98 2x12 with a v30 and a g12h30. It came with 2 v30. I still have the other one. Blonde with oxblood cloth. It has a tuki cover and an air brake. Has a low hr set of jj in it but I also have a nice matched set of old mini wats and another set not so matched I put tilt back legs on it for gigging. Huge help. Great shape except for one small dent in the cabinet I hate to sell it but it needs to be put to use. Way way too great an amp to sit. Put a zen drive in front of it and it’s heaven If you are interested leave a reply and I’ll figure out how to pm you.

Hey Mike, looked at this post several times and didn’t notice the valance on prototype #1. That is really cool, like a blurred Z. To me it kind of denotes “the eternal Z”, stands the test of time... Cool effect. Gives me some ideas.

Cool effect. Gives me some ideas. When I sent it in to Doc they asked if I wanted a Z on it - I told them no - way! It's even better looking in person!

I have two of these heads. Best amp ever. I've been in contact with Don recently about having the master volume installed in one of them. If that transpires I'll be sure to give a follow-up
