I just installed a MOD 8AB2A1B in my 2009 Maz 18 jr. and it sounds really good. I'm thinking it may be making a little more hum than the original Accuntronics, but could be a little guitar player neuorosis. I've read here about shielding and stuff for the head model. (mine is the 2x10 combo) I installed it the same way the original was--with cardboard taped to the botton and tank wrapped in bubble wrap and placed inside pouch thats screwed down to the bottom of cabinet. Is there anyway I can reduce the hum? I realize that this is natural for tube driven reverb, just hoping to improve it a bit.
Thanks for any feedback

You could wrap the cardboard bottom with aluminum foil and make sure it is in good contact with the metal frame of the tank, and make sure that your RCA plugs are making good contact with the outer ground 'fingers' that grip the jack. Make sure the foil can't short out anything in the tank and you'll be fine. Wrap it tightly around the cardboard. Aside from that, just make sure your reverb drive and recovery tubes are in good shape.
The foil is actually overkill; it didn't need it before. Just thinking out loud.

Thanks for taking the time to answer...so to foil or not to foil is the question.

I think dave is on it...I never found it to be the "oh yeah!" either.

It is something I do to all of my reverb tanks routinely. Only in one case did I notice an improvement. But hey, it is cheap and easy.
