Good evening I’m Paul and I’m new to the Dr Z community. I’ve loved the sound but was waiting for a model with an effects loop and along came the Nova. Recently I had a chance to buy and jumped at it, hand wired, effects loop and sound great is a combination that can’t be beat. I play it for a while and decided to do some small tweaks to give it a slightly different feel so I removed original tube rectifier and installed a Sovtek SS rectifier and rebiased from the recommended 28ma to 20ma. I find the tweaks has made the amp tighter without being stiff, so my question is to the community is there thoughts about the adjustments and if there might be any negative effects to the amp.
Thanks. Paul.

Check that the plate voltage isn't too high on the power tubes.

Thanks for responding and for the welcome. I measured the plate at 469v and what I’ve read my bias is under what is recommend so I believe I’m good as far as the tubes are concerned. Anything else anyone thinks I should be looking out for?

Welcome to the forum.
Various members have tried taking Doc's tube rec amps and putting SS recs in them. Some take them out and go back to tubes, others leave the SS in. So it's not something that's new to us. I can't remember anyone having issues with their amp when switching to the SS rec.
It's a matter of taste and feel. If you like it, then leave it in. I can't speak for the rebiasing, but good that you're addressing it. (The Nova is fixed bias?)
