I know it’s long discontinued but still loving my RXJR and continue to learn more about it.
Been tweaking outside of my “normal” settings on my RXJR lately, trying to coax max headroom out. A few findings...
I go for the LOW input with the overdose/boost on. You can achieve good headroom in the high with overdose off, but I think there is a touch more apparent volume in low input with boost. Volume control roughly around 11 o clock.
Now here’s the secret I recently discovered....
The MV on the RXJR doesn’t seem to do much between noon and full on. Has its most noticeable attenuation in the bottom half of the rotation. But I recently discovered a cool trick. Ive recently found dialing the master back to Noon on the RX loses very little apparent volume but cleans up the tone just a touch. Almost like it’s just taking the edge off the signal that’s slamming into the power section and keeping it clean a bit longer.
If anyone out there is trying to get max headroom out of the jr, I’d encourage you to try dialing the master back a touch and see if that cleans things up a bit for you. .

Have you considered any of the clean boost pedals (like the Flying Dragon)?
