what a talent.. whether you care for his music or not. no denying the talent and drive and what a life. man, i bet he made fortune just in recording royalties from other artists.

He still tours. I’ve seen him a couple times in the last few years. He’s haggard and I didn’t think he’d make it through the set! His voice is weaker and he may not sing all the verses of a song, but he said he’d never get all the songs done that he wanted to sing otherwise. I’ve watched this movie and there is a CBC interview done fairly recently which is a good addendum to the movie. The interviewer is, as many of Canadians are, a bit of a fanboy, however it doesn’t distract too much. ME

I watched that a couple weeks ago - found it by accident trolling thru Netflix. Was a pretty well done bio. Gordon was a bit more of a scoundrel than I knew, based on the tone and lyrics of his work. I’ve always loved his music.

in a related note: this goosebumps raising scene was from one of Gordon's infamous parties in Toronto. you all may remember it from "Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese"

Since I play acoustic almost exclusively nowadays, I've also been listening to more acoustic music. (go figure)
And over the past 18 months, I have been listening to Gordon Lightfoot music. All the songs that never made it on the radio in the 70's are still out there waiting to be discovered. (They're all brand new to me) I've really been enjoying them and can see why Canada would consider him such a national treasure.
