Same tubes, but ... what's the big difference? There is so much more that contributes to the sound of an amp than just the tubes 😉 Though there will be similarities, the Maz series are designed to be a Swiss Army Knife. You will get clean headroom right up to great crunch with tones that can range from Fender to Marshall to Vox and everything in between. The Z-Wreck is designed to be a precision instrument that is basically an AC30 on steroids. Up to 10:00 (depending on pickups) is stays relatively clean with a 3D character. After 10:00, the whole amp just starts to pucker up more and more and by the time you get to 2:00 it’s just compressed like the best AC30 ever. The Brad Paisley demo where Dr Z dropped his new silver set backstage to him really shows how the Z-Wreck shines. Oh, one difference, the 38 has a master volume.....the Z-Wreck doesn’t (and that’s by design and why Doc built the Wreck Jr).

Agree with the above but will add that (based on my experience with Wreck Jr. vs. Maz18) the Wreck is sonically richer sounding to me, whereas the Maz main advantage would be more clean headroom and tonal flexibility especially w/ MV.
This video does a great job demonstrating what I hear as far as their sonic signatures...
