A new Z Wreck Jr.
I titled the thread this way because my original intention was to buy a Jetta studio combo.
I am a long time (About a decade) Dr. Z devotee. I started off with a Mark I MAZ 18 Jr. Reverb head and then grabbed the same in a combo. Have tried or owned others, but always relied on those two. Until... The Mark II came out. I have since replaced both with the Mark II.
I was thinking of buying the Jetta under the introductory pricing as another small, grab and go combo as a back up or to use in a larger context on some of the bigger outdoor stages we play (or will hopefully soon be playing on again!).
However, the local dealer I frequent had the Z Wreck Jr in at the same time and I really fell in love with the tone straight off; So that's what I came home with. Or more precisely, that's what I took out of the shop and went straight to band rehearsal with!
What a great amp. I set it pretty overdriven - about 2:30/3:00 on the volume - big, saturated, sustaining crunch that was ever present in the mix and that would clean up beautifully with a twist of the volume knob and / or change in playing dynamics.
It has everything that I love about the MAZ as far as the dynamics and sustain/saturation, but with a reedier quality that never feels thin like some other amps I've auditioned (or more to the point, used at practice because they've been on hand in the studio) for this project.
Highly recommended!

Congrats! I have a head on order now. There’s no way the Jr can’t be just about perfect, in any form 😎

KeithA: I am sure you'll be perfectly pleased with it! What speaker cabinet/speaker type are you going to use?

I will eventually have a 112 cab with a Scumback Blackback that I will use as a Greenback variant. I have the cab now with a different speaker in there. If I can find a like-new 112 Z cab in red I'd get that for the Scumback, though. However, I already have a Z 212 with Golds, Z 212 with Blues and the silver Z-Wreck cab with a Blue/Gold. Those cabs may not be best for it but all worth a try.

Hey Keith, I have a Z 212 with Blues in it and the Zwreck sounds great with it, you have lots of choices listed there so you will have no problem finding a good tone (I'm sure that Silver Cab will sound incredible with it too).
