Trying to get straight to the details, I see people talking about the different kind of tubes that can be ran in the therapy, but I also see they need to be Octal Beam?
So what are the brands and models of tubes you guys are using? Looking to try anything, EL34, 6v6, KT77, etc.

I’ve got Tung Sol el34s in mine now, although I’m using it for high gain applications. Have tried JJ 6l6 and JJ 6v6 as well with great success. It sounds great all around, just a great amp.

Here's Doc's reply to what you can use:
"I believe you can, I tried a variety of 6L6 based variants, EL 34 and also liked the KT 77 a lot, and JJ 6V6's sounded nice as well. But I must say I favored the JJ 6L6 the best.
Just plug -n- play, the amp is Cathode biased at 270 ohms which is a low or slightly cold bias point, so any Octal Beam Power tube with a 7AC pin configuration in a medium range will work."

I have set of JJ 6V6s in mine right now. They sound good. I've not tried to the KT 77s yet, although I'm told that they are great in this amp. Oh, and the Dr. Z recommended tubes are great as well! I only have the 6V6s in there to lower the volume.

I've settled on EL-34s in mine. I also liked 6CA7s in it as a compromise between the American sounding 6L6s and the British sounding EL-34s. The 6V6s were nice too. They add a bit of that 6V6 sweetness. As Russell says, they are good for taming the volume a bit if you need to.

I’ve run 6L6 (stock), KT77, and EL34s. The KT77s were probably my favorite for ballsy, clean to drive tones. I ran the EL34s to get a Marshall cranked tone from the Therapy in a multi-amp setup I ran.

I think it's the "Octal Beam" thing that's throwing me off. I've never heard that term before so I didn't want to negligently throw in any tubes that would damage the amp. I really like Genalex tubes and wanted to try out their KT77s and also try out some NOS EL34s and NOS 6L6s. Is "Octal Beam" just the normal term for a regular tube or are there special tubes that apply to this term? Thanks for all the recommendations so far!

Octal refers to the socket type that the tube's pins fit into. What's throwing you off is that you're grouping the terms "Octal" and "Beam" together. Octal stands alone in the description, and the terms "Beam' and "Power" are together. A "Beam Power Tube" is one that along with the grid and screens has a pair of auxilliary plates that focus or "Beam" the electrons that are moving from cathode to the plate inside the tube. So it's commonly referred to as a Beam Power Tube.

You're welcome, and enjoy the hunt! I love JJ KT-77s in mine, and the JJ 6V6s work very well too. That's what I've got in mine at the moment.

I talked to a guy on TGP that raved about KT77's and 5881's. So I went and put 5881's in mine along with a 5U4 rectifier and it has this awesome Bassman vibe to it.
