WOW!
You guys, this pedal is no joke--which was evident nearly immediately upon switching it on (through my deluxe-reverb-ish type amp, the one I typically try pedals in first). It's sort of fat, sort of transparent (but sort of not), very smooth, not harsh at all, and sounds great all over its dials. Almost like the Timmy and OCD (in LP mode) had a ridiculously smart and cute baby. I would still admit that it somewhat "sounds like a pedal," but come on--pedal or not, there's no denying that it sounds great.
I have NO idea why all the web forums haven't been drooling over this pedal for the last 20 years. I know it's been a Nashville studio favorite for ever (hats off to "Uncle Larry" Bukovac) but it simply isn't praised like the Klon or all those others. Maybe it's the humble looks-like-a-Boss-knockoff looks? Or the European name? I don't know, I'm just glad I decided to try this one; and I'm maybe a little bit disappointed that I hadn't considered one years ago.

I have one as well (actually I sold 2 a few years ago and regretted it). I have the latest model with the bass cut, which I find subtle but effective.
XTC does a mod that makes it true bypass if that interests you. Contact Barry if so. You can see their modded ODR-1's on some of the pedal boards on their site.

Because of "Uncle Larry", Zac Childs, and Time Pierce I have been thinking about this pedal for months, and at $129.00 it is worth the taking the chance. I need to pull the trigger on this one.

I love my new mini ODR...I think it’s what I’ve been searching for all along!

I should clarify that XTS mods the full size version. Barry told me they do their best to not alter the tone.....just do a true bypass. I use my drives in a looper so I wouldn't need that mod.

Mark, did you get the full-size one or the mini? I got the full-sized one. It seems to have all the modern updates, which include the bass-cut switch AND it accepts between 9-18 V power. I figured that since pedalboard space is not really a concern to me, I'd just get the regular model for a less-cramped feeling and those classic aesthetics. (I'm also not turned off by non-true-bypass anymore, either.) In fact, to be fair, I should state that I've only played the pedal using my 12 V power adapter. I also use 12 V power on my Barber overdrives and my OCD--it seems to be the perfect "Goldilocks" power level to achieve a little bit more in terms of an open-feeling tone, but not fully wide-open/high-headroom that you'd get from 18 V. Regarding the bass-cut switch, I didn't feel that the pedal was all that bass-heavy until I tuned the switch off, at which point I realized that yeah it's pretty full in the bass (think Boss OD-3 vs. SD-1). I actually like the pedal at both settings--I could see it being useful both on & off.

I have the Mini. I find that I like it best with the Gain and Spectrum knobs around 9:00. It seems to minimize the boomy bottom you can get with higher spectrum settings. I have always operated it at 9 volts but I am going to try it at 15V using an Xotic adapter for a while. My band does a few current Country songs and I can tell that a lot of them were recorded using an ODR-1.
