These guys have been seeing some YouTube hype the last few months so I thought I'd see what the buzz was about. Very transparent low-gainer, very similar to the Klon KTR and other good quality Klones, with maybe a bit more gain on tap than is typical for such pedals. Useful as a clean/dirty boost, or if you want a little more girth and grit on your base tone without having to crank your amp. Got it specifically to try out as a boost for my Wreck Jr., and it works great for that application--just enough gain to go from rhythm to lead tone with a little volume bump, without making my time-based effects go crazy. Probably a keeper--will maybe sell the two other pedals in the cabinet that do pretty much the same thing.

I love my Lightspeed for all the reasons you listed and more! It's the only dirt pedal I have on my board, other than my Archer that I use for a clean boost. I set the drive differently depending on the amp. The Drive is usually somewhere between 10 and 1. My last name is Greer, so that's the other reason I keep it!

It's one of those pedals, kind of like the KoT, that likes a cooking amp. Doesn't do much at lower settings, but the quality of the breakup once you get the gain past 12:00 is very musical.

I've been running an EP Booster into a Lightspeed for some time. Lots of tones available with that combination.

I was going to say that earlier. When your amp is already cooking, the thing excels at taking it to the next level. But I've also found that it works great with my Wreck at lower volumes. The Wreck by itself, at 10 o'clock or higher doesn't need any help. BUT if you have to turn it down, the Lightspeed sounds great with it. It sounds great with all my Z amps.

Ugh this thread is bad news! I don't want to add fuel to your GAS but....
The Lightspeed is the only dirt pedal I've ever had a bass player tell me "That Greer pedal REALLY sounds good!"

Mine's silver with mint writing. I didn't order that special, it's just what Nick had in stock at the time.

Helping another guitar player find the strength to buy a dirt pedal. My job is done here. 😎

So, I'm still playing with settings. Where would you-all ideally run the Lightspeed with a Wreck Jr. or similar set at just breakup? How about with a clean amp like a Z-Lux?

Got mine the other day and spent a little time with it yesterday. As previously stated, it adds a nice "girth" to the tone without getting muddy. I'm probably going to use it first in line to goose the Timmy. To me, the LS falls into a similar category as the Nobels.....adds a slight low end fullness that sounds quite good.

UPDATE - spent some more time tonight with the LS. I used my Nova which sits on the floor in my office/music room and I sat on the floor next to it, so I could hear it clearly. The LS really just enhances what the tweed-flavored Nova does. I like to run an always-on OD set to very low gain, just to fatten the tone a little. I've used a Boss BD-2/Keeley for that for years. Lately it's been a V3 Timmy, but now it's going to be the LS. I like it better than the Timmy for that purpose.
When we get back to gigging (we ARE going to get there, aren't we?) my plan is to run the LS always-on with a KOT after it and a Maxon OD9/Analogman and an XTS GE-7 in front (Maxon for Strats and GE7 for humbuggers).

I’m going to agree with this 100%. I’m enjoying the lightspeed more than I did my timmy. Sounds great with both the m12 and z lux and it stacks perfect with my browne protein and ryra. Here’s a clip with my k line truxton special, lightspeed, el cap, and flint (just verb), and the z lux with reverb and trem on. http://instagram.com/p/CEx6qU6l2DD
