I have been playing my Z-Plus for a few days now, I am like a kid locked overnight in a candy store! This is my first guitar amplifier. In fact on the day I received the amplifier I received my first electric guitar, a Fender Telecaster. I do not have the personal knowledge base for this equipment as I have always played a acoustic guitar. I have read through the Z-Plus forum thread titles and picked out threads to read, and they have helped me. Can someone give me a little of guidance regarding setting up my amp. What would be a good place to start in setting my amp up for a blues sound, like Clapton? How about Steivie Ray Von? Any help will be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to Z Talk. The Z-Plus shares some of the features of Dr Z's MAZ series of amps. In my "signature" below there's a link to a document that contains a bunch of suggested settings folks have used over the years. Each guitar will be a little different, so you may not get the results with a Telecaster that others get with a Strat, for example. One suggestion: don't be concerned with where the knobs are set; let your ears be the guide. You can't hurt the amp by turning something all the way up or down. This thread may also be helpful MAZ 18

Like Dr Ice said....use his suggested settings as a general guide, then close your eyes and turn the knobs until you get the tone you're looking for. No one can tell you what is a right or wrong setting. What your ears like is what's best for you.

Hello, Welcome! Turn the knobs. Also, don't be afraid to make adjustments with your guitar volume, tone and pickup selector settings as well. Enjoy the ride and the discovery

Welcome to the Forum - a lot of good people and information here! You've picked a great amp for your first Z! As the other guys said play around with it and use doctorice's spreadsheet. Should keep you busy for a while!

Thank you for the spreadsheet doctorice, it saves me a lot of time researching and gives me more time to play! Also I know what you mean by letting my ears be my guide. The spreadsheet is a good idea. I am going to get a notebook to keep a record of settings I like best. Like I explained in my origonal post I am new to this. Years ago while browsing Guitar Center, a clerk motioned me over to the amp area and said "try this". It was a Telecaster plugged into a Fender Vibro-King. It was glorious! While playing, the clerk turned it up for a few seconds and I could hear this amp jangle! Never forgot that sound! I owe that kid.

I am going to get a notebook to keep a record of settings I like best. Taking a picture of settings with a smartphone enhances the documentation
