Sometimes you just gotta plug the guitar straight into the Cure and play some AC/DC. Ha! Please forgive me if the tone sounds a little thin. I had the level at almost speaking level...

Isn't it great? My Guild Blues 90 and Cure are an awesome combo without pedals. I use the boost and the picking pressure and the guitar's volume to go from clean to dirty. Sometimes I add reverb and tremolo (but they're not required).

That being said I recently swapped my tubes for NOS and taking time to appreciate sound of the NOS tubes.

Nice playing and tone! I also went with NOS tubes (full set) in my Cure. Love it!

Nice playing and tone! I also went with NOS tubes (full set) in my Cure. Love it! Thanks, Lou! Yeah, I put a Valvo/Amperex 12AX7 in V1, A GE Longplate in V2 and a Phillips JAN 12AT7 in the PI. Then I took advantage of KCA's Summer Sale on the RCA Blackplates (Grey Glass) 6V6GT's. Still working with the Sovtek rectifier but will probably go to NOS on that as well, eventually. Really like the tone I'm getting from these tubes though. Liked it so much that I ordered a couple more matched pairs of the 6V6's as a backup. While Mike still has them! Ha!

That’s why Doc makes such great amps, so you DON’T have to patch in opamps, transistors, LEDs, diodes, or a cocktail of the aforementioned to get a great overdrive sound. ‘Straight in.
