DC here!
Some 3 weeks back I sprung for the above mentioned gizmo. One reason was to have a amp sim/effects sim with me to some of the local blues & jam sessions - I've found in Barcelona . Some of the places are very small as stages go - no room for a backline - they go straight into a little PA-system.
Admittedly I'm not much of pedal/sim/Kemperer dude. (Kemperer stuff seem way too expensive to me )
Anybody here use the HX stomp for something? What's your thoughts? Any tips & tricks? I guess I need just about all the help I can get - lols.
Cheers: Dixiechicken!

I think several folks here use the Stomp so we’ll see who responds. I used the HX Effects and really liked it - but finally to the dive into a Kemper (it’s freaking awesome).
You might try also the Line 6 website - they have forums for the Stomp and downloads for different patches.

I use one but not they way you are going to use it. I use it mainly for the effects. It really is a Swiss Army knife and should work fine for what you want to do. I did pick up a Jet Micro midi pedal, highly recommend mend you add a midi pedal.

I have the HX effects and have found it usable as a stand-alone pedalboard--the downside is on-the-fly tweaking is a little cumbersome, but maybe easier once you really get to know the device. For a DI/amp/cab sim I'm using the Strymon Iridium, which seems to work pretty well.

DC here!
Thanks for the replies fellas - That kind of reflects my own impressions. I mean that the digital effects like, delays, reverbs, modulations like phasers, flangers choruses etc. Seems to be the strong point.
I've seen lots of views & tests where the viewers think the response is very much like a real tube amp. But I don't think so - not really - it's more a case of - close but no cigar - if you take my meaning. I still feel the amp simulations fall bit short of the real thing - those I have experience with .
Yes it's kind of a swiss army knife thing, but it takes quite a bit of tweaking & planning - before you're ready to use it live. Hopefully I'll learn to use it productively - lols
Please keep comments/tips/tricks/experiences coming!
Take care all - Dixiechicken!
PS Yes the Strymon Iridium was also on my radar - I chosed between the two. Only time will tell if HX stomp was the right for me DS

I use stomp as an amp going into the PA. I play in a gospel group and we play with split tracks. Since our drummer stepped down a couple of years ago my amp was just too much on stage. I do prefer the amp for sure but it does a nice job. I tried the Kemper since it was used by the studio guys on our last two cd’s. It is a lot more than I needed and expensive. I also didn’t want to give up my pedals since I have been buying and selling and the like over the years to get what works for me. The Kemper is awesome but too much for me so I went with the stomp. I even have the Michael Britt downloads well worth checking out. What I use most is a simple program I set up and chose only the amp (Dr. Z model of course) and set it the way I would my amp then use my effects just like I would my amp. No one in the audience has really heard a difference. In fact, I have been able to turn up a little louder since I don’t have the noise on stage. I would suggest starting with just a simple model and tweak it how you like it and see how that sounds. I really do prefer the amp no doubt. I have a Z28 that I have used for years and love that amp but for what I do the stomp does a pretty good job. Hope that helps.

DC here!
Thanks for the input "grrsound"!
Sounds like you have given quite a bit of thought into what you need and want.
I have so far two reflections.......
1) The stomp does not behave quite like my amps - Z-Wreck combo and the Route66. By that I mean that many videos online remark on how well the stomp's emulations behave like a real amp when rolling down the guitar volume - but I do not agree really. Its there but not quite the same, not to the same extentthat a real amp does.
2) The amp emulations drive knob - when you turn it up for dirt it seems to add a slight crackling/frizzing sound on top - to want for a better description. (almost the crackling sound from from a bonfire but more continous)
By applaying the hi cut of the cabs down to about 3.5-4 KHz - it seem to tame that upper sizzling I don't like. (YMMV)

I'll be getting a helix floor soon (actually won it, which was pretty cool, so I'm just waiting on it to show up), so I don't have any first-hand experience yet but I found this video that I'm going to try as soon as mine comes in to help with the amp sims:
