what are most of you guys running your heads with, a 8 or 16 ohm cab, and have any of you noticed a difference between the 2?

8 ohm WGS Blackhawk, or 2x10 convertible with Z-10s also 8 ohm.

I use 8 Ohm. I've read arguments for and against using higher and lower impedance, using proper load and output taps of course.
After my recent observations between the three 8 Ohm Vintage 30's I have, I'd be more concerned with having the best sounding speaker, regardless of which impedance load I'm using.

I literally just reconfigured my Z Best to 16 ohms today. I read that I was supposed to be able to hear a difference. I guess I never received Eric Johnson’s ears.

I’ve run 4, 8, and 16 ohm cabs with different heads. Astonishingly, I sound the same with all of them - or, rather, I seem to be able to suck to the same degree no matter the impedance. 😁

Two 4 ohm 2x12s and a very recently acquired 8 ohm Z 2x10. For kicks, I may try disconnecting one of the Z 10s and running it as a 16 ohm 1x10 cab one of these days.

EDIT: Seriously though, I've tried different impedance speakers and I can't tell the difference if there is any...my experience was with a 4x12 that you could choose to make 4 or 16 ohm.

I just left mine setup at 16 because 16 is more than 4 so it’s gotta be better It also beats removing 16 screws on the Z Best to change it back for no added benefit to my knowledge.

We must have the same amp and speaker cab!
