Just thought I would take the time to explain the release of the Z -28 MKII. I reworked the Z 28 adding a needed PPIMV , as well as a Zero Loss Effects Loop. When updating to a Post Phase Inverter Master Volume , (the best functioning MV IMHO ) , I had an issue with the Fixed Bias of the original Z 28. Most Fixed Bias amps don't play well with Post PI drive due to DC bias voltage mixed with the AC guitar signal on the grid. A Cathode biased configuration works so much better for my PPIMV design. So instead of Cathode biasing the JJ 6V6's , which ends up with a very Tweed Deluxe type , one trick pony tone, and much lower output wattage with mushy low end, I opted for cathode biased 5881 outputs. This yielded me 28 watts of output, nice tight low end, smooth top end , and strong mid response, as well as a great foundation for my PPIMV . Prior to the change I felt the Z 28 tonally favored a Brown Tolexed Deluxe, which has become a very popular amp design as of late, the Z 28 was doing it 15 years ago . Now with the cathode biased 5881's the Z 28 takes on a rich Tweed Super feel and tonality to some degree, which ain't all bad. Still great Cleans, and EF 86 pedal friendly input, but now a slightly bigger amp growl, with the advantage of a great Master Volume. Also the Zero Loss E/F loop allows for addition of Reverb ,Trem ,and nice Delay added at the right spot in the pre-amp mix. Ok so now when is it going to be available ? Well timing on product release is true art form, I have had much experience with this as I have released 52 amp models in just over 32 years. The Z 28 MKII has been ready for release for some time now, but the Covid-19 pandemic has screwed up my production, product release times, and promotion. So the release has been delayed , trying to find the correct timing which will make the most impact . The CAZ-45 also was projected to release in 2020 and it too was delayed because of Covid-19. Understand these are difficult times for small business to operate successfully. Hopefully this will all be behind us in 2021, fingers crossed, let's just try to get through 2020. Z

Totally understandable Doc, let that Z Wreck Jr reach out and broaden your base. Then hit them with the one/two combination with the CAZ and the Z28.

Heres the thing. I connected a guitar the other day. And suddenly I realized that the z28 is a band amp and its also meant to have the bass and treble maxed and the volume where it starts breaking up. Which will be early. That's where the flower blooms.

That's where the flower blooms. You are playing a 1x10 Combo, the the cabinet size and speaker choice makes a huge difference. A 1x10 Combo will pretty much cut through any mix in a live situation that is for sure. The Z28MKII is the one i'm looking forward to the most. I'm trying not to buy anything else until its release, but its getting pretty damn hard. I've got my OD11/Vanilla Zendrive going into the Z Verb, into the Z28, into two cabs with a mix of 10's and 12's all being tamed by the Brake Lite. A 1x10 Combo would easier to tote around that is for sure, but with no current band or gigs in sight i'm good.

Brake Lite for the one I have or sell and get the Mk II? Brake Lite for the one you have AND get MKII. LOL Seriously, I do use a Brake Lite with mine. Works great, keeps it manageable in a small space.

But my Z28 Volume is usually at 9 o'clock on the volume and then I goose it with an Amp Eleven and or Vanilla Zendrive. Seriously one of my favorite amps of all time, I really love the amp.

Fun stuff. Both seeing Doc improve/transform a current design and seeing fans of the original getting excited.
