Bought a Z-Lux back in January to take over gigging duties from my Z-Plus (needed more headroom). With the whole COVID thing, we’ve had no gigs or rehearsals. Sunday night was the first time I had the Lux our for a rehearsal, and it exceeded expectations. I didn’t have to touch the amp once I plugged (actually had to turn down the volume once I tuned up. It took all the pedals with ease and held its own nicely. It’s going on stage June 20th!

Your going to love it when you open that thing up! It's so versatile!

Sounds awesome at home, and it just makes me smile turned up! Haven’t heard a bad sound out of it yet!

Your going to love it when you open that thing up! It's so versatile! I agree. When I play with my band, the rhythm guitar player is older, and plays like a horn section. Everyone (except the band) tells me he plays too loud and they can’t hear me. My Z-Plus just didn’t have the headroom like the Lux has, and at rehearsal, the shoe was on the other foot. I didn’t have to touch my volume but once, and he was fiddling with his amp the first few songs until he gave up. It’s not a competition, but I think he gets the idea now.

My only concern is whether or not it gets enough overdrive with pedals. I need enough to do black crowes cowes and classic 70s rock. How does the z-Lux compare to the z-plus for this? Thanks!

Z-Lux won’t give you as much gain as the Z-Plus. I prefer the Plus (I even sold my Lux) but there isn’t just enough wattage to play with a full band unless you prefer to hear yourself through the monitors of the PA. I still have my Z plus, although I went with a Fender twin reverb tone master for gigging. I know it’s basically a solid-state amp, but I get all the clean headroom and stage volume I want.
