Hello! Considering converting my Maz 18 2x12 combo to a CG (too many knobs on Maz, favorite amps are KT-45 and Mini Z)…is this possible?...and worthwhile?...or would I be better off just getting a pre built 2x10 combo? I already have a road case for my combo. Any suggestions and advice is much appreciated…cheers!

Sell the Maz and buy the CG - much easier and should be about a wash price wise.

I have gigged two Maz Jrs..and one Ghia. Both are great amps, but I bonded with the Ghia more. It's a little more Marshally than the Maz Jrs. (and that appeals to me) Your experience may be different. Others on the forum will need to verify: Are the chassis exchangeable? Will the Ghia chassis slip right in to a Maz Jr 2x12 combo space?
But I agree with Jaguarguy...just sell the maz and buy a Ghia.

No they are not exchangeable. Ghia chassis is smaller than the MAZ chassis . Z

Thanks for the info and advice, much appreciated!
From what I’m reading, Doc’s 2x10 combo is supposed to sound as big as most 2x12’s anyway.
Cheers!

I just spent a few months having both amps. At first I thought I would absolutely keep the Ghia, but ended up moving it. I liked the Maz better with single coils which is what I prefer, and it is way more versatile. I hear you regarding liking fewer knobs (a big reason I began to consider leaving Mesas for Z’s). The best thing if you can is to grab a Ghia (they will come up as cheap as $800 if your patient), and spend time with both. You can’t go wrong with either.

I'm glad you decided to move the Ghia along. I've been enjoying it teamed up with a 10" Celestion Gold in a studio Z cab!

Finally got that Ghia with a gold - How does your build sound against the Ghia?

I'm glad you decided to move the Ghia along. I've been enjoying it teamed up with a 10" Celestion Gold in a studio Z cab! Finally got that Ghia with a gold - How does your build sound against the Ghia? It's very close, the difference probably is the tubes. I hooked it all up with the Tonebone amp switcher and if I close my eyes I couldn't reliably tell them apart.
I still wanna come down to the MuZeum and get another opinion though
