Hello all, I'm hoping you can help me w/ an issue...
I have powered my entire rig via the GigRig Generator and 3 Distributors for ≈4 years. However, just recently, I changed pedal order and now there are crazy popping sounds when I click my pedals on (namely, turning gain on = clicks that are amplified, especially via reverb and/or delay). I recut and tested all of my cables, re hooked up all of my Distributors and tried other cables, guitars, power, outlets in the house, and guitar amps. I'm about 10 hours of testing in and going nutty! Not to mention hours and hours of reading. I figure that pedal order changed some stuff and I need isolation now. That would all be fine, however, here is my worry.
In my testing, I went down to only 2 pedals. One gain, one modulation (reverb or delay). It seems that I can NOT get the popping to stop now...even if the pedals are on their own separate supplies. (Strymon BluSky reverb has strymon power, and gain (of which I've swapped 3 different gain pedals out)) has it's own supply (tried GigRig Generator to Distributor as well as a Dunlop DC Brick). I've also tried different cables, amps, guitars, outlets, etc. w/ only a 2 pedal setup. Also, I have tried the Strymon w/ the buffered bypass as well as putting a buffered volume pedal before the True Bypass gain pedal.
In 15 years, I've never had this mechanical noise type of issue (beyond typical true bypass mechanical click (that doesn't come through the amplifier)) and now I can't seem to get rid of it no matter what! Help, for my own sanity's sake...help!
Wondering if Isolators will help with my situation, or if I actually somehow messed up all of my pedals...possible?
Paul
P.S. The only thing I have yet to test is to take my rig to a different building, but planning on it this week...could it be my house power?!
P.S.S. Signal chain is as follows
Guitar > Fat Fuzz Factory > Ottava Magus > POG 2 > Whitey Tighty Compressor > Tapestry Audio Bloomery Active (buffered) Volume Pedal > ZVEX Double Rock or Dr Z Z-Drive or Fulltone Fulldrive 2 > Hotone XTOMP > Earthquaker Devices Aqueduct Vibrato > Cusack Tap-A-Whirl Tremolo > temple boards Buffer unit to Amp (Dr. Z Maz 38)
Effects Loop of Dr Z Maz 38 (buffered)
Boss DD-500 > Strymon BigSky Reverb
Thanks to any and all who would try to help!
