Welcome!
I run NOS tubes in mine and get them from KCA Tubes (but no tube "substitutions"). The stock tubes are just fine though and are less expensive.

I’ve bought Z recommended tubes from the Tube Store many times with great results.

Thank you all for the tips. I turned on the amp yesterday and started to get a slight hum. Not sure if that has anything to due with tubes, but want to be ready.

It is always best to have a spare set of tubes (and fuses) for any amp - especially if you are gigging. It is fun to try NOS preamp tubes, but you cannot go wrong with the doc's suggestions on power amp tubes.

The Tube Store has been great for me and just ordered another set of tubes for an amp I'm rebuilding and while their website said might be a delay due to the Covid 19 virus issues, they got them in the mail next day I think. Very happy.

Like many others, The Tube Store. I also get the same tubes the good Doctor recommends.

I'll add to my note above on NOS tubes. I've had good luck with them in my Cure....no issues. Tried the same thing with the Nova....no luck (except the rectifier). I tried 3 NOS preamp tubes and had trouble with getting both channels to work. I ended up sending them back to KCA and going back to the stock tubes that came in the amp....with zero issues since. SO, NOS aren't the be-all-end-all.

SO, NOS aren't the be-all-end-all. I gave up on NOS tubes about 5 years ago. It seems like the good ones have mostly been cherry picked and those remaining are touch-and-go. With my Z amps I'm having great luck with the tubes that Doc prescribes.

I might need to modify my endorsement of The Tube Store. I ordered their Premium set of tubes for Fender Blackface Bassman and I swear all 4 preamp tubes seem microphonic. I've never seen this before. This is an amp that I had to completely rewire so I'm not 100% sure but is it possible that mistakes or some bad contacts in the wiring or tube sockets could make them microphonic if the tubes are otherwise good? I'm not thinking there's anything I could do to make them microphonic when I tap on them. So just wanted to update. I will be contacting The Tube Store.

Hey Guys, one last question. I bought a complete set of tubes for my Cure. I was thinking of just doing the DrZ suggested maintenance and the just replace all of the the tubes. I only have one bad power tube.
Im I wasting money by replacing all or should I just replace the two 6v6 tubes and keep the other when needed. I can always save to old ones as well when needed. Thank you in advance for the insight.

Anybody else seeing a "Cure" tag in their "Recent" listing view for this thread? It's just after the "New" flag, and before the thread title? Weird... I've never seen those category tags before, and it's only for this one.

Not so much though for the power tubes. They need replacing depending on how much you use your amp.

I agree with Lou. No need to change preamp tubes if you like the way your amp sounds now. Changing all of the tubes at once could change the way the amp sounds and then you wouldn't know which tube or tubes made the change. If it made the amp sound worse, you are now screwed. As I've said before, (those of you who have read this before, stop reading and go practice)after putting in the new power tubes, start at the phase inverter tube, the one next to the power tubes, and put in the new one. If it sounds the same, put the old one back in, keep the new one for when it does make it sound better. If you like the way the amp sounds at this point, keep the rest for spares. If you can't help yourself, change the first preamp tube, the first one at the other end, sounds better, leave it in, no difference, again, old one back in and move to the next tube to try.

I also swapped out with some tubes I got from Mesa Boogie. They are labeled Mesa Boogie so not sure which brand they are but they are solid and no microphonics when tapped.
