So I was messing around this morning to see how the EMS might work as a "pedal platform" (hate that phrase - ALL amps are pedal platforms - but you know what I mean). So I set for a nice loud clean tone. Fiddled around also on the edge of break up tones as well. Short version - it works great at both! Personally LOVE the clean tones I was getting with just the amp and delay pedal. SO if you have an EMS to get a chance to try one, go for theses settings and thank me later! EDIT: Use Tube rectified on the back! Also, I was using an HSS guitar.

I've been jonesing so bad for an EMS lately. The Ray is amazing, but the Z grass growing on the other side of the fence looks so good!

The nice thing about those two amps is that they complement each other very well. The Ray is very scooped in it’s EQ and the EMS can be very mid focused. Running them together is really really fun!

Agree! The EMS does nice vintage cleans. I run similar settings when I want my EMS clean. I like also just flipping the gain switch up for a great light crunch.
I think the hi gain with tube rectifier is the combo of switches that Marshall didn’t build. It’s essentially a JCM800 with a tube rectifier. Maybe that exists by another builder, but I do ‘t think Marshall made that. Sounds good!

Like walking on grass vs concrete.
