I’ve got $1700 burning a hole in my pocket. I’ve got a ZWreck 1/2 powered combo set to speed. I love the idea of the Jr but not it’s different enough to be worth it. I rarely run my amps super overdriven. 99% of the time I keep it just slightly overdriven. Wouldn’t mind having the comfort feel as well though. Thoughts?

Somewhere on here, Doc said that the Z-Wreck with 1/2 power isn't much different than the Jr.

OK Jim I do appreciate your support of my company, I will address your question . Understand this is a question that has been asked by curious Z Wreck half power owners , and rightfully so. I did try my best to duplicate the dynamic and sonic response of the Z Wreck standard in the new Jr., and I feel I did a great job if I must say so myself. So a half power Standard is extremely close the the Jr in all aspects , except this which I do not feel is not a $1899.00 value difference. I'll try to explain using gear terms not fancy adjectives to explain the subtle difference. Think of a Fender Tweed Deluxe's ability to transcend into smooth break-up that sound oh so natural and balanced that is the Jr. with it's correct sized Output transformer to produce the tone. The Standard ZW has the larger OT with it's increased bandwidth and articulation this doesn't quite break up the exactly the same. It is a subtle difference but not one that I would spend $1899.00 to achieve. I will also say the Celestion Greenback gives the Jr just the perfect timber of reedy smooth distortion that is to die for in a low wattage amp, and it's clean tones are surprisingly crisp and brilliant . Great news Doc, thanks!
I might let Jack play it and shoot a video before I take it home. Hmmm...

Jack at PeCh is an incredible player who never sounds like he’s noodling he always sounds like he’s playing music. Great shop great channel their Maz vids are killer! They did that like 4-5 min saloon clip or whatever but a deep dive by Jack into a JR would be sweet
PS Doc please make a deal of some sort and send Daniel Steinhardt and Mick Taylor a wreck. Dan in particular is a huge fan of these circuit types and I would fall off my chair to see a Z on That Pedal Show ( z you should check out their Tone Talk episode with Dave Friedman) see if you can get Dan to chuck his Matchless in the bin as the brits say 🙃✌️

Jack's video of Z Wreck Jr is what made me get it (and Dr. Z's words about the amp and Jack's play through). The amp is true Gem.
here is the video

I’ve owned a silver tolex set for 2 years, that I love ...., but even with the Z - break it is loud and doesn’t sound as good on the bedroom setting so it’s hard to use without being to loud for most of the places I play. I purchased the jr. combo three weeks ago and I can’t say enough about how great this amp is. It retains the touch sensitivity and beautiful clean chime of the original , and you can get great amp breakup at reasonable volumes the master volume is a game changer. I think Dr. Z hit it out of the park with this one, and think we’ll be hearing it on a lot of recordings once the studio guys get there hands on it. I’m very happy with this purchase it’s the most versatile and best sounding amp I’ve played.
