My favorite, hands down, is the Firebird that my Sue bought for me. It's the one I brought to Z-Fest 2018 and played at Wilberts in Cleveland. It just sounds so good with just the guitar straight in, there's something about that combination that is flat out magical.
I was just playing it and trying out other guitars...P-90's, Strats, and different humbucker guitars. Somehow the Firebird just stands out from the pack. I like just leaving the OD engaged and riding my guitar volume to get the drive I want and it's great.
What are you fellas playing with your Nova? Do you run any drive pedals or anything into it, or do you go straight in?

Hey Dave, I play my Tom Anderson T with Lollar humbuckers through my Nova most of the time. I was always a LP guy until I got the TA, it just fits my hands so much better and is a blast to play. The 5 way switch gives me a lot of variations also. I have a set of Antiquities on order for my LP Custom and can't wait to try them!
On a side note after reading all the posts about having a back up amp at gigs it got me to thinking maybe I should be taking my Z Wreck along to gigs and if I was going to do that maybe I should see what they sound like together. I bought a Lehle amp switcher and have been experimenting with playing both together and switching back and forth. You can get some really cools tones with both amps On! Just mentioning this as I know you have both of these amps. Not sure it's worth the trouble of running 2 amps at the small bars I play at but I'm definitely thinking hard!

All my guitars seem to sound good through the Nova but my current go to is my new Charvel Pro-Mod DK24 HSS super strat. I'm running it into a Marshall compressor, Boss SD1 super overdrive stacked into a Keeley modded Boss blues driver, MXR carbon copy, JHS being reverb straight in to the amp. My Nova is #7 so it doesn't have the Metro fix loop.

Hey Dave, Which model Firebird is that? It's a 2017 Firebird T. I tried about five of them down at Motor City Guitars and this one smoked the rest. Here's a cool back story. When I came offstage at Wilburt's, BW was coming on. I handed him the Firebird and asked him to play it. It was already plugged into the Nova. He said "Sure!", played a set, and gave it back. I winked and said something like "I'm never gonna wipe this guitar off" and Buddy grinned and said, "If I were you I'd take it out back and hose it off right now!" Great times at Z-Fest.

I find a certain amount of humor in BW's response.

Cracked me up...he's a funny guy. I only got to talk to him for a few minutes but we've traded PM's and he's one of the most talented, humble, and kind hearted folks I've ever met. Here's another story, I don't think he'd mind my sharing it with ya'all.
I had been trying to order a couple of his CDs and he was performing in Europe at the time. He got back into the States about the time my wife lost her battle with cancer and he heard about it. He sent me an email and said the CDs were on their way, and "Don't even think about writing that check." He sent me his whole catalog of music, no charge. Thanks, Buddy. You'll never know how much that meant to me during that time of grief.

Those gestures stick with you. Great story.

I thought my Heritage H-535 was my favorite with this amp, but I just spent some time with it with my Strat. I had to turn up the clean channel a bit to fatten it up. Nice!
