I bought a 2010 “like-new” James Burton Telecaster recently. The only issue with it was sharp fret ends. This occurs when the wood in the neck shrinks slightly over time, and, of course, the frets stay the same width. To fix this , I bought a fret end file from Fret Guru through Amazon. It worked great and is designed so that it does not cut the fretboard or neck.

I use pure mineral oil from CVS. It helps keep the wood from drying and shrinking/expanding. 20 some axes all rosewood and ebony, never had this problem.
