In some cases two heads ARE better than one!

The Ghia is a great amp to pair with other amps. Z28 will be a nice flavor ! What do you like about it .... as a first impression?

The Ghia is a great amp to pair with other amps. Z28 will be a nice flavor ! What do you like about it .... as a first impression? It is brighter and firmer than the Ghia. Both amps feel good with just a guitar plugged straight in. Then I started to tweak with pedals after I found where I like the guitar and amp to be. The EF86 freaks me out a bit when I hit it with a pedal, I have to turn everything down to just pass unity, a great clean boost seem to work the best for me. I also like the way it cleans up, and stays clear. I am going to swap the GT 6v6's out with my preferred JJ6v6s (just for my taste) and the replace the rectifier out with a 5y3, just to see how it sounds. First and easiest tweak is to try the 5751 in V2. That is supposed to sound a little more scooped in the mid, so I want to at least try it and I can always go back. I am glad that I did not go with the KT45 or the RT66, i'm not playing out at the moment and I don't think the Brake Lite would reign them in enough in this small room. Next week i'll get them out to a Jam and see what we can do.

Now I guess we might know how the back socket was broken...if it’s the same one I saw on Reverb. That is a bummer update. Maybe the Z shop can help. I love the gold color faceplate though.

Indeed it is, I am returning it and he has excepted. It is a bummer, if it would have happened coming to me, I would not have a problem keeping it, but I don't think it did, I think was like that before he shipped it to me. It is all good in the end, bummer for the amp. He said it will be up for sale again as soon as its returned.

Thanks, i'm located in IL so its a bit of a drive. Another Head popped up on Reverb, but I have to wait out my transaction. No problem, i'm patient and one will come along, or another Z will come along. I would still really really love to find a "Shorty" 1x12.

Well I tried to move on, but I just could not either get a different amp in my price range or could not make the drive to do a hand off deal. So I have another Z28 for a really fair price headed my way! I'll have it in my hands Wednesday.

Glad to hear you found one - it'll be worth the wait! I've got a 4x10 combo and love it!

Glad to hear you found one - it'll be worth the wait! I've got a 4x10 combo and love it! I have had the pleasure to play through one of the 4x10 combos. A friend has a Ghia Head and 2x10 and a Z28 4x10, I played the 4x10 and that why it took me so long to try the Ghia. That 18/20 watt is a sweet spot, i'll be pretty happy with both. I'll have to find me a 1x12 for a fair price and another Brake Lite.

I'll get pictures and a new post up tonight. The Z28 arrived safe and sound, and the seller(at my request) supported the transformer during shipment with bubblwrap and foam. This one survive and I'm tickled to have it.

Sorry, but I have a lot going on here with a side project. BACK TO AMPS!!! So i've ran it through a few different 12's, and the Z 2x10. I think it would sound really good through a more American speaker like the Z Speaker. But just like everything that has been said about this amp. BiG Low End, too much low end, but it can be dailed way back, nice firm feel with a rolled off top end. You guys were right, it does not sound anything like a Blackface or Silverface Princeton, it is definetly more M sounding than F. Doc's V2 Sounds like it will be an improvement on an already great amp. I'm going to try a couple of tubes swaps in the V2, but I have not done that yet. I am pretty stoked with my Ghia and my Modded Princeton, this one kind of blurs the lines, between the two. I may move or trade it for another Z, but I want to spend more time with it. The Monza, Remedy and the 30th still intrigue me, I really love the Ghia so the Gainer Monza, or the higher wattage 30th makes a lot of since. The ghia with 10's or a single CV65 sounds great. I still have not come up with a 2x12, I have another CV65 and a Red Fang that I want to pair up. I have had them running in a two singe 1x12's and they sounded great. Have a good one and stay safe!

I’ve run mine through a z 2x10 (stock) and a z 1x12 with the Z12 in it. It does like the Z12 and it sounded great - but you do get more bottom than the 2x10 so you need to compensate for that. But the amp does like the Z12.

But the amp does like the Z12. Good to know, I actually pulled it off the attenuator today and just turned the volume down and WOW I found that I was just pushing it a little harder than I needed. Volume at 9 0'clock, Bass 9 0'clock and the treble a hair passed 3 0'clock. Totally digging it now, just as much as the Ghia. They are different, and I run different pedals in front of them. The Z28 gets a little Light OD, Clean boost and a Slap Delay. I'm running it into the CV65 and its sounds great.

Congrats on the 28! The good Dr. actually likes a green back paired with this amp but I found that a WGS ET65 is the ticket for me. This is from someone who only played a Ghia for 10+ years. You're right, it doesn't need to be turned way up for some great tone. 3-3-3 is often mentioned but 1-1-1 and control everything from the guitar works really well too.

Gold 10” paired with the Z 10” for the 2x10 cab will give you a new clarity. Great speaker combination.

The CV65 is a version of the 1265 like the ET65, sounds great with this amp. The Et65 got me into the whole 1265 thing, it was a complete accident. I sat in the WGS Booth at the last Nashville Gear Expo, and got to try multiple speakers with a Jubilee Clone. I didn't know which speaker was which, I just played and finally said "Thats the one". What a great way to try speakers, its was about nothing but what you were hearing.

I didnt love the Z12 honestly. I didnt dislike it, I just found it sorta neutral. It's one of those speakers I just cant see anyone HATING.
In addition to the Z12, I've had a Greenback, WGS Reaper HP, and a Scumback H75. The H75 sounded best, but I like it even more in my other amp. I'm currently running a Celestion G12H30 70th anniv. I like the volume, the highs, the somewhat scooped mids and the headroom, but wish it had less bass. I've been thinking about trying an American type speaker in mine. If you try one, please report back.

A quick tip since I noticed you have guitar straps between your amps in order to keep the rubber feet from discoloring your Tolex. You can find those round, thick, felt-like pads at Lowe’s that you would put under chair legs to protect your wood floor. Attach those to the rubber feet and you are good to go. Never had trouble with a head scooting around in a cabinet while playing from vibration.
Congrats on those two amps!

Nice valence on the Z-28. I found this piece of cocobolo rosewood and couldn't resist making "Smaug" for my Z-28. Eye under the bass knob, nostril under the standby. The speakers are a Bad Cat proprietary ceramic and a Tone Tubby Red alnico. I got the cab used and it was (obviously) not pristine, including previous footprints, so I have not bothered with protecting the top from the amp feet.

I was cleaning up my "Man Cave" and found a package of them and put them on.

Every time I think I want to buy a RT66 or a KT45, I plug into the Z28 and think "How much louder does it get?". This thing will move some air
