I have a question.
My new-to-me Z28 has Conn Ltd 6V6 power tubes. I’m not familiar with these, and I’m wondering if I should retube with something else? I’m unsure how long these have been in this amp, (2010 mfg) and am wondering if a retube is in order?

Whenever I buy an amp used I always retube it with matched power tubes and tested preamp tubes. I will use the originals as spares but at least I know where the amp stands re tubes from day 1. Re CONN - I've never heard of them, but there are a lot of re-labeled tubes out there from different decades as well as manufacturers. Best of luck on a great amp!

I think you’re correct, a retube is in order! Thanks!

Here’s the list of tubes Doc puts in each amp, for reference.
I stick to what Doc recommends because he tries a lot of tubes when designing an amp, and these are the ones he picks to the tone he’s after.

I retubed with the Docs suggested replacements-although I did swap out the 12AX7 with a 5751-and after bias adjustment, I must say the amp sounds totally different and AWESOME! Thanks for the suggestion!
