So, when I went Monza (a rock 'n' roll BEAST) a few years back, I had also considered a Maz 8. Decided the Monza was better suited to my needs, as listed below.
I'm back to considering a Maz 8 v2 and would like some input, please.
I only play at home, and am in to Sabbath, Free, Michael Schenker/UFO, old Judas Priest (through "Point of Entry"), Mountain, Accept, and so on.
Is the Maz 8 v2 something I should pursue? Does that updated MV make a huge difference? It seems as though I won't be driving the EL84 very hard. Is it worth it?
Thank You Z Brothers/Sisters

If you are into Sabbath and Judas Priest and 70's rock you might want to consider the Z-Plus.
The Maz 8 will certainly get you there, but the Z-plus has the 6 v 6 parallel tubes which to me sound much deeper and robust at low volume with a pedal engaged.
You wouldn't be disappointed with the Maz 8, Humbuckers and a pedal, but if you are buying that amp for a certain tone I would recommend looking into the Z-Plus.

Gain-wise the Maz 8 is pretty equal to the Z-Plus but as Brian says the Plus has more power than the 8. I've got my Maz 8 V2 sitting right next to my Z-Plus and they're both VERY capable beasts. Not as much gain as my Monza but they both crank. I LOVE my Maz 8 V2. I was going to sell it before I got the V2 mod completed on it, that's how much it improved.

More power is not what I'm looking for, hence the interest in the Maz 8. Guitar straight into amp, no pedals.

Love my maz 8. Don’t forget to consider that it can function in both triode and pentode mode. Both sound great but have a different sound an feel...
