Done deal, I was a little nervous about the back, but we went with a 60/40 split so I can close them if I want. I had some issues on a few gigs were I was stuck against a brick wall, or even the back of the cabs pointed stage left toward an the pool tables or seating area. I had been jus sticking foam in the back of the cabs, but this should do the trick. The less stuff I have to carry the better. I like to roll in, run cables and be done. So standard size Shorty, Nova Cosmetics, 60/40 convertible back, and I had the option of going with Pine and I like Pine so I did it. They are going to built the same way with the glued in baffle. I have two of them so I guess I could pull ‘em out and look, but don’t the Z shorties have the lens technology? Can’t imagine they’d sound the same without it but I may be dreaming it up. They indeed have the "Lens Technology".

I think Doc only used the lens on the 2x10 and the Z Best cabs.

I think Doc only used the lens on the 2x10 and the Z Best cabs. Thanks, Peter was already aware. He said that the "Lens" is another used to get a better sounds out of such a small enclosure. I'm just excited that he was happy to build me a couple. So now the wait begins. I should see them the first part of May. I'm working on speakers now. I was going to go with the two RF' in the 2x10 since I have two and they sound great. I can run them in Parallel at 16ohms and get a 16ohm CV-65 to go in the 1x12. I've been very tempted to to back to WGS Speakers, the ET65 is one of my favorite speakers and very similar to the CV65. I could run two 16ohm ET10's in series at 8ohms and an 8ohm ET65. Both cabs together at 4 ohms then if its one or the other at 8ohms.

Mather is one of the few "BEST" small business out there and his customer service is excellent. You will be very pleased with your cab. I'll bite my tongue (hard) on this one!

All I can say is, I had more recommendations from everyone I know to go with with Mathers than anyone else. He had great communication, prices was right and I purchased them. Tomorrow w will find out.

That's fine. power to you. I hope it works out great for you. a lot of people love his cabinets. I've never heard anyone complain about the quality of his cabs. my personal experience with the A-hole, and that was through e-mail, because he's wont answer the phone and actually talk to you like a human being, was, so infuriating, that if he would have been standing in front of me, I would have smacked him in the mouth! I think it's piss-poor business practice to tell your customers "I only communicate through e-mails because I'm to busy to take phone calls". I can say in 30 seconds what takes me 5 minutes to type out, so dont "piss on my head and tell me it's raining" mr. Mather that it's a "time" thing. I've dealt with several people who are 1 man operations, and they ALL take phone calls and talk to their customers. I have brought this up to a few "1 man" music operations that I have dealt with, and they all agreed that that was "bad business"! I’d have to guess that if his preferred business model were problematic for most people he wouldn’t enjoy the success that he seems to. A little like Nash guitars. He refuses to build an instrument without some degree of relicing (for reasons he explains that do make sense). People complain but he’s still one of the top builders out there.

Seriously, your point is moot and you kind of come across as an arse yourself. As a collective we all have our quarks and I fully understand that some just need to "hear that voice" over the other end to get a since who they are dealing with. So overall if he hasn't wronged you, other than you don't like is idea of communication and you have no warning to others who may make purchases, about his poor quality, or not coming through on you order, or running away with your money then your not doing a service you yourself or anyone else. We all need to watch out for each others best interest, protect each other from fraudulent vendors or services, and share as much with each other to educate each other as much as we can.

Yeah he says that when he’s tried it, no matter how careful he is somebody always finds a flaw and calls him on it. If he starts off calling it a relic there’s no way anyone can complain. Pretty clever if you ask me!

Sorry to thread-jack here but I was wondering if anyone knows if a shorty 210 cab can handle 120 W? I'm thinking about getting a re-amplifier for more clean headroom but I wanna make sure the 210 (70W) can handle that safely. Cheers-- John

They are 70 watt each, as long as your going to use it to get more clean headroom and NOT more volume you should be ok. I can't recommend the Badcat Unleash enough, plus you have an FX, and a second mv for leads.
