This is my 3rd Z. Had a 6545 and an M12 in the past. I always loved the KT45 side and my M12 so I figured Would give the 66 a whirl. So far so good. Seems to be a 2002 model. Starts with an M
It came with a 5AR4 that I am going to switch to a 5U4 as soon as I can.
Currently playing it through a 1x12 with a Gold. I also have another 1x12 with a greenback but I was to scared to try that with the 25 watt rating on the GB
So far I love it. Might be a tad loud. Anyone have any attenuator reqs?

They are such a good amp - I really like them! I use a brakelite with mine when I want to keep the volume down. The key to using the brake lite is to dial in the tone you want a little quieter than you plan on playing. Once you have your tone then dial up the brake-lite one click and the sound will be really thick sounding.

I feel BrakeLite is key to using in a volume reduced setting. I found it difficult to sit in the mix before I got mine. Creamback G12M-65 is a good speaker to pair with it for a Greenback tone. When I had mine I was using Orange 1X12 withVintage 30’s. It surely rocks! ME

Congrats, Route 66 kicks butt! I gigged with one for several years and always used an Airbrake. For whatever reason, the Route 66 gets along really well with attenuators.

Anyone know if the change to the 5U4 rectifier changes the wattage? I like the looks of the Tone King Iron Man II Mini but it is only rated for 30 watts.

I used to have a RT66, really enjoyed it. I generally didn't turn the volume on the amp up past 10 o'clock and used the 66 via an Airbrake thru a Celestion Blue - for a couple of years - and never blew the Blue.
Loud? Yes. First gig I had it I played it thru a Z-Beast w/o any Airbrake. At the end of the night, the band convened a meeting to address the stage volume! Bought an Airbrake soon after.
Enjoy!

I am really thinking of picking up the Tone King Iron Man but I am going to wait to hear back from them.

The Best Z amp ever made IMO! The key to more headroom is to keep the treble and bass turned down as they add gain when turned up. I still play my 66 goldface plexi daily!

I don't mean to diss my Z-Wreck in any way - but I think I'll second Lefty's opinion
Cheers: Dixiechicken!
