I guess I'll find out. I ordered one. It's for my 57' Reissue TH Black Beauty. It has Custombuckers, which I actually quite like. But I've wished they had just a little more push. I'm primarily a classic rock / hard rock guy. They are pretty low on the output measuring around 7.4k. Oddly enough the P90's in my new special measure higher lol.
The Thornbucker specs seem promising....
The new Suhr Thornbucker Pickups are designed out of a need for a no-compromise, consistent set of 50's Gibson PAF style pickups with none of the downsides associated with them. 50's Gibson PAF humbucker pickups have long since been coveted for their exceptional tone and ability to play both clean and dirty. With inspiration from Pete Thorn, Suhr has brought us the perfect set of PAF pickups!
They have not only brought guitarists the coveted and now consistent sound of a good set of PAFs, but also have brought these pickups into the modern age. They feature 4 conductor wiring (ability to coil tap) and a variety of spacing options.
Specs: Neck Magnet: Alnico V, Bridge Magnet: Alnico IV, DC Resistance: Neck 7.3KΩ, Bridge 8.4KΩ, Wire: Plain Enamel, Hook Up Wire: 4-Conductor
Anyone try them in a Les Paul type guitar?

No, sorry... but I replaced the stock "SSV" in the neck of my Suhr Classic T Pro (fancy name for a Tele with neck HB) with a regular Thornbucker and I LOVE it. Quite frankly, it might just be the best-sounding Gibson-style neck humbucker that I've ever played. No joke.
Thornbuckers are pretty low output, though (in a good way, yielding a very clear "vintage" tone). I'm guessing if you want more push you're better off with at least the Thornbucker+ as you're thinking.

They’re spec’d just how I like them and I play heavy rock with Les Pauls and gobs of gain. I like a bridge pickup in the upper 8K - 9K range with either A2 or A4. I shy away from high resistance winds and hot magnets because they roll off so much high frequency response, taking away some of the sizzle on the top end. Also ruins any chance for chimey, responsive cleans. It looks like a winner to me, anxious to hear your thoughts.

If I like the plus in the bridge I was going to try the regular version in the neck.

I've never had a high output pickup that I liked. I just measured some pickups I have kicking around that worked good for me in other LesPauls, 57 classic, 57 classic plus, Slash set, and Antiquities. They were all around 8.2 - 8.5. Hopefully the Thornbucker+ isn't too hot. We shall see!

Yep, you just named several of my faves above. I recently bought a set of Duncan Saturday Night Specials from Martin (Helmi here on the board) that I love in my LP.

I remember liking them quite a bit. Can't remember why they ended up in the parts bin tho. While I was digging around in there I found a pair of Peter Green CS pups too. I should sell some of these. I have a stupid amount of pickups. At least they're small... unlike my speaker situation... it's a sickness I tell ya!

After a few weeks, I'm really happy with the Thornbucker+. I liked it right away, so I ordered the neck version also. Been enjoying them both. They aren't overly hot, but have more output than what was currently in there. They seem to work much better for my style and gear. I don't use od pedals much. Sometimes I'll use a tubescreamer set as a boost or koko boost, but used sparingly. I also use single channel amps. So it nice to have a little more output without sounding overly modern. They also seem to clean up better with the GV without as much volume drop as the Custombuckers. This sort of surprised me as I was a little concerned with how they would clean up. Lowering the GV is my "clean" channel". The thornbuckers work great like this! This is my LP with them installed. It's a Custom Shop 57 black beauty true historic reissue, so it's a solid mohagany body, no maple cap. The TB pickups seem really well matched to this guitar.
