Mine came with a Svetlana EL34 with a TubeStore label on it. Tube Store does not appear to sell them any more.
I am looking for the classic Hardrock Marshall sound. Any tube suggestions that might take me futher down that road?
The Super Baby is capable of using lots of Power Tubes...so maybe a switch to another tube. Suitable tubes are:
6L6 EL34 EL37 7581 5881 7408 6550 KT66 KT77 KT88 6CA7 5992 7D11 5932 6V6

Years ago I had a Fuchs Lucky 7 which allowed you to change out the different power tube like you've described. It was a very fun amp to try out different tubes (along with learning about biasing them), but the only downfall was the fact that I would buy a single tube for it but was stuck with about 10 different singles after I sold it. It didn't help that I bought mostly NOS from Mike at KCA - hindsight can be embarra$$ing sometimes. Have fun with the amp!

I wish it wasn't a crap shoot in having a direct path in answering your question. As you know how any particular tube reacts in the circuit will determine if it gets the tone (classic Marshall) you're looking for. Could be any of a number of them and the reviews on line take you all over the place. Marshall sounds can be all over the place for that matter. The EMS uses the Electro-Harmonix EL34. If it was me, that would be an economical safe bet to start with.

I am not sure how close you will get to that Marshall sound. They are Push-Pull Class A/B designs. You amp is Single-Ended Class A I believe.
